My Take on a Fully CGI Thing in a Fantastic Four Reboot

Here is "My Take" on the rumored fully CGI The Thing and a side note on Doctor Doom too.

So to be honest right off of the bat, when I first saw The Thing (actor Michael Chiklis) in full body suit, I was immediately on the fence.

But I wanted to not pass too much judgment on one picture. I wanted to see how The Thing's looks in the first Fantastic Four film worked in live-action during the film.

Sad to say, I still to this very day think that The Thing's look in the first two films just didn't seem to work or fit.

Now I see that CBM's Jr. Editor, Rochi Morand writes in his latest post, that The Thing will be fully CGI in the reboot of the franchise.

This is really exciting news because CGI has come along so far in such a short time that I think they can really pull this off and it could look really cool.

Think of an actor in a green screen suit acting out all of The Thing's movements in each scene and then the magicians of the computer software world replacing the actor with a CG Thing!

I think this is great news. On a side note, hopefully, they can have Doctor Doom's voice sound better when the mask is on. As much as I liked the casting of Julian McMahon as Victor Von Doom, I could not stand how bad his voice sounded when wearing the Doom mask.

Please give it a metallic sound of something that is at least more than the normal sounding voice for whoever may become the next incarnate of the infamous Marvel villain.

Back to The Thing, again I love it and cannot wait to see the first image when/if production ever begins on the new Fantastic Four.

Yes, CG is the way to go.One of the worst things about that Thing suit in the movies was it was so bulky and restrictive, the actor could hardly move, much less run or pull off a fight scene.

I think it will be pretty effortless to make the Thing look real next to the actors.Look at the Incredible Hulk. That was pretty good work. And he had to actually look human. The Thing is made of rock, so they won't have the problem of having to make him look super realistic.

There's going to be an a$$load of CG characters in Green Lantern. We'll see how well they pull it off.

This is awesome news. Hopefully he won't be the shortest person on the team this time. Sh!t! He had to stand on his tippy toes to be taller than Jessica Alba almost.

I do hope that they hire Michael Chiklis back for the re-boot because his voice was perfect for the role.

Fantasy cast for the new "FF" movie:

1) Billy Crudup (Reed Richards)
2) Charlize Theron (Sue Richards)
3) Ryan Gossling (Johnny Storm)
4) CGI Thing voiced by Bruce Willis

IMHO the ages and skill of these actors would make for a more mature, edgy, and credible "FF" team. Any opinions?

I gotta agree with Suzanne, Chiklis had the voice for Thing. When he uttered "Its clobberin' time" I forgot how awful the rubber suit was and how off scale the Thing appeared. Make the Thing CGI and bigger than the makeup FX and keep Michael Chiklis as the voice, although Jack Bauer would be interesting also....umm 24 there Dave.
