Despite rumors to the contrary, we're now hearing that the upcoming Fantastic Four reboot will not feature the MCU debut of the Silver Surfer after all - though there are still plans in place for the character, and Galactus will have at least one other herald in the movie.

According to scooper CanWeGetSomeToast, a Silver Surfer project is currently being developed, but it will either be a feature or a Disney+ series, and not a Special Presentation as previously reported.

MyTimeToShineHello then weighed in, suggesting that Terrax will serve the Herald of Galactus (there are whispers that the all-powerful Devourer of Worlds may have more than one servant to do his bidding).

In the comics, Terrax the Tamer was originally a Birjan tyrant named Tyros, who ultimately ended up turning on his master in an attempt to claim Earth as his own by manipulating The Fantastic Four to attack their old enemy.

These are still just rumors for the time being, but Mila Kunis - who was said to be in contention to play Sue Storm - recently indicated that at least one character has been cast, so we may get an official announcement about the movie (and possibly even a plot synopsis) fairly soon.

Matt Shakman in on board as director, with Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer currently working on the script. Plot details are still a mystery, but Kevin Feige has confirmed that this will not be another origin story for the super-team.

“A lot of people know this origin story. A lot of people know the basics. How do we take that and bring something that they’ve never seen before?” he said in a 2022 interview, comparing this new take on the heroes to Marvel Studios' pact with Sony to bring Spider-Man into the MCU. “We’ve set a very high bar for ourselves with bringing that to the screen.”

Fantastic Four is currently set to hit theaters in 2025.
