VIDEO: Why we hate the FF reboot, and how Marvel could make it awesome

It's hard to get optimistic about the Fantastic Four reboot, but do you think Marvel could easily knock it out of the park? Not so fast...

So yeah, a black guy's playing Johnny Storm. I'm cool with it. A skinny blonde Brit playing Ben Grimm on the other hand...

It's no secret that Fox doesn't see the Fantastic Four IP as much more than a cash grab. Personally, I think if the rights did revert back to Marvel, it could be a silver lining to Fox if they only have the X-Men movies to focus on for the foreseeable future. Either way, it's hard to get my hopes up about another round from the same studio that gave us Barbiedoll Alba as Invisible Woman.

Of course reabsorbing this flagship property back into their growing cinematic universe would be a major boon to business. However, Marvel would still have a few notable hurdles to contend with. It's not as easy as it might first appear to turn Fantastic Four into a long-running franchise, because like a lot of superhero comics (and this one in particular), the FF is designed to sustain more out-of-this-world adventures than your typical blockbuster franchise can ever hope to contain. In order to get around that and get the most out of the series' potential, Marvel would have to do something innovative. Then again, this is Marvel we're talking about, so if any studio can go down that road...

*Facepalm* so you think just because Jamie Bell is skinny he can't play the thing? Come on, he most likely do motion capture and stuff like how Mark Ruffalo did for the Hulk.

For me, the issue isn't that Bell is so physically different from the Thing, it's that he's so different from Ben Grimm. Ruffalo as Banner, sure, totally, but I don't remember Grimm being at all the same shape as Bell.

But really, it doesn't matter to me. It's a team I care little about, and they're purposely going in unexpected directions with their casting. That's fine, since I have no excitement for the concept in the first place. BUT, hopefully they have an outstanding trailer that gets my attention.

I don't mind this at all, I like Marvel but people need to stop pretending the MCU is perfect.

They've made like 10 movies and have a tv show...and still...NOBODY EVER DIES!

It was frustrating like 4 movies ago, at this point it's just ridiculous.

They've made an entire universe with no consequences.
