As of right now, the signs are finally pointing to the X-Men and Fantastic Four arriving in the Marvel Cinematic Universe at some point in the next few years. While it's still early days, you have to believe Kevin Feige is considering any number of filmmakers who could bring these heroes into this shared world but will he end up choosing someone closer to home? Peyton Reed seems to be hoping so!
The filmmaker has directed both Ant-Man and Ant-Man and The Wasp for Marvel Studios and he's made it clear that he has big dreams about being given the opportunity to helm Fantastic Four.
"Well, I have been known to mention Fantastic Four in conversations that may or may not have happened in the Marvel hallways," he teased during a recent interview. "It’s all a giant question mark at this point, because no one knows if this merger is going to happen. It was on, it was off, it was on… who knows. I guess I can dream, right? I can have the dream. We’ll see. Time will tell!"
Reed would certainly be a pretty good fit for the Fantastic Four franchise but Marvel might prefer to have him continue working on the Ant-Man franchise. Ultimately, this probably hinges on how well Ant-Man and The Wasp does at the box office next month but it's certainly something to think about in the meantime. What do you guys think?
