Clash of the Titans 2 Gets Its Director

Clash of the Titans 2 Gets Its Director

According to Deadline.com, Warner Bros. has decided on a director for their surprise (i.e. successful despite scathing reviews from many critics and members of the moviegoing audience) hit, Clash of the Titans.

Writes Mike Fleming at Deadline, "Warner Bros closed a deal late last night for Battle: Los Angeles director Jonathan Liebesman to direct Clash of the Titans 2. I'd written yesterday about the ongoing talks that were stuck on money. Later in the day, they found a common ground. The sequel is a natural considering that the protagonists played by Sam Worthington and Gemma Arterton survived, and the original grossed nearly $500 million worldwide. But Clash benefited by being one of the first major live action films to get a 3D retrofit. I don't think I've ever heard anybody say they actually liked the movie, and there were many complaints that the hasty 3D conversion was less a quality breakthrough than a gimmick reminiscent of that short-lived trend of 'colorizing' B&W films. Warner Bros and Legendary will try to do better on the sequel, including shooting in 3D. That alone should make the mythical creatures more fun than, say, the cheesy-looking piranha currently swimming across movie screens."

What are your thoughts on Clash of the Titans and how do you think they could improve things in the sequel?

yeah i usually like all movies but this one definitely wasn't high on my list. still enjoyed it but wasn't a great movie by any stretch. and there was no way i was going to see it in that second rate conversion bullshit 3D. the only reason they did that was to make more money last minute. NOT a recipe for success.

Man I liked the original, this one was good, Louis Leterrier is a good director I mean look at the good Hulk, that was good directing. Well, @Lansdowne5 made a good point why did Rob Zombies Halloween get a sequel, how come good movies don't get sequels

To me, a sequel to this franchise is the same as a sequel to 300. Cool but not as epic. I just don't see the necessity. Of course i'm not comparing the quality of 300 to the remake of Clash. That would be a crime ;)

I love the original movie, I didn't think the remake was that bad. I did buy it on DVD. So I'd like to see the sequel and hope that's it's done better.

i liked the first although i thought there were things missing. i wanted more god scenes and stuff. and letterier explained that the studio cut out more than 20 minutes of screen time for some reason without asking him. the 3D sucked of course but the movie was cool. cannot wait for no2

They should make a new story, keep the actors that played the gods and have new heroes, maybe Hercules or Bellerophon.

the film was shit,i actually got really excited for them to do a remake of the original,i didnt like the original just because i dnt like old movies with ther horrible effects..if they put the effects of the remake into the original then our remake wud ov been amazing
but its was a knock off,the films plot went really quick into different sections and sam worthingtons acting was TERRRRIBLEE,u can easy hear his oz accent in certain scenes..but a remake..sounds good cos at least then they wudnt b copying the original right?

They probably learned from their mistakes and try to do better in the sequel, but still the first one was so bad that even G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra was better (And thats pretty bad)! LIKE RISE OF COBRA, IT DONT DESERVE A SEQUEL! I feel sorry for stars of this film. Worthington, Fiennes, Neeson, Arterton, Flemyng, Liam Cunningham and Mikkelsen!!
GODDAMIT!! This film could have been so much more!! WHAT A WASTE!!!

ShadowMan@ Not bad idea! Hercules movie would be great!! Zack Snyder from 300 as the director!

nailbiter111@ I dont think that Leterrier was the only fail in this movie, because in the past he has made pretty solid stories (Unleashed aka Danny The Dog, The Incredible Hulk and The Transporter 1-2). Maybe this was too epic for him. Or maybe he just forgot the story and focused on the action and awesomeness of this film.

they basically see this as a big budget theater movie. people will go see it because of the special effects and the 3D, even though the first one's 3D was a cheezy second rate conversion. unfortunately people will pay to go see it. usually i would be one of them but after seeing the first one im not sure. it will all depend on what else is coming out that weekend

I guess I'm the odd man out. I actually liked the remake. I tried to watch the original, but honestly it put me to sleep, it was just that boring.

I'm interested to see what they do with a sequel, since I imagine the story will most likely be one crafted from scratch and not based on anything that's already out there.

The original was great, this remake was pure crap and didn't make any damn sense. I will definitely be missing the sequel to this one.
