Freida Pinto Cast In Tarsem’s War Of The Gods

Freida Pinto Cast In Tarsem’s War Of The Gods

Who of the what? First I've heard of it too, but apparently Clash Of The Titans will have some competition in the Greek mythology stakes and the gorgeous Slumdog Millionaire actress will star..

I know its not specifically a CBM, but then neither is Clash or Percy Jackson..its all about the Greek myths baby!

According to Variety, Pinto will portray Phaedra, an oracle priestess who must join Theseus (played by Henry Cavill) on his quest to prevent the cataclysmic war from erupting. Warner Bros had toyed around with the idea of buying the script for their remake of Clash of the Titans. Obviously, Clash was the first to go into production, and will hit theaters on April 2nd 2010. The same week production will begin on War of Gods.

Not suggesting anything with the WW pic by the way!..just making that comics connection;)

Here is the breakdown:

“A purported bastard who retains an allegiance to his mother despite the fact that he longs to join the quest of a king who is battling demons in ancient Greece later embarks on a grail of discovery that has him finding he is the king’s son and also fated to become his country’s greatest hero as he leads the successful war against long-imprisoned Titans who are hoping to use the demons to restore their power.”

If you have never heard of Tarsem Singh he is an Indian-born director known for his incredibly visual imagery and art direction. His only movies have been The Cell and The Fall. The Fall is just about one of the most amazing movies I have ever seen so I'm really looking forward to his take on the Greek monster mash ups.

Singh says of the project:

“It’s turning into, basically, Caravaggio meets Fight Club,” he said. “It’s a really hardcore action film done in Renaissance painting style. I want to see how that goes; it’s turned into something really cool. This guy who I really love, who’s the only one person in it right now, is the brother in The Tudors, Henry Cavill. I’m going for a very contemporary look on top of that so I’m kind of going with, you know, Renaissance time with electricity. So it’s a bit like Baz Luhrman doing Romeo + Juliet in Mexico; it’s just talking a particular Greek tale and half contemporising it and telling it.”

Here is a clip from The Fall..do yourself a favor and see it.

The Fall looks like an excellent movie, i will have to find the dvd. i like Greek mythology, and i think henry cavill is et for big things, so i hope it works out for him. i agree with you Ror, she is a temptress. if i passed her in the street i would more than likely end up walking into a lamp post.

I wonder if anyone involved with "Slumdog Millionaire" are still riding that train like a pile of desperate bitches. Freida Pinto may be the only one from that film who won't spiral into obscurity, at least on an international level.

Visually, "The Cell" was quite good. Lopez was a robot throughout and killed the film's overall value. I haven't seen "The Fall" but from what I remember from "The Cell", this dude Singh had some cool shit and I'd be very interested in what he does with the material given to him.

Great visual director. It will be interesting to see his take on Greek Mythos.

@WeaponX-ummm...the other main actor Dev Patel is going to be in The Last Airbender & Director Danny Boyle was already an acclaimed director.
