David Ayer's Bright has been getting a lot of attention over the past week, mainly for the overwhelmingly negative reviews the film has received. However, the movie has been pretty popular with Netflix subscribers, with 11 million viewers watching the Will Smith movie over the course of its three-day opening weekend.

The movie’s audience has been fairly young, with 3.9 million viewers in the age range of 18-34 and 7 million in the 18-49 range. 56% of Bright’s viewership has been male.

The film was a pretty big gamble for Netflix, with the streaming service spending $90 million dollars on the Max Landis-penned movie.

Bright’s viewership was pretty strong over the Christmas weekend, as the movie generated more views than season 2 of historical drama The Crown, but less than sci-fi horror hit Stranger Things. Did you check out Bright this week? Comment below.

Good stuff if you ask me. I saw it the day after it was released, and honestly I don’t think it deserves even half of the hate it’s getting. Sure there were a couple of things that could have been better or touched up, but I thought it was overall an enjoyable movie and one that was easy to get into a follow. Looking forward to the sequel tbh, I’m curious to see where it all goes.

@Mattygrand - yeah I think people like to hate cause it’s easy. I enjoyed it. It did seem like something more of Ayers old work then Sucide Squad. I wouldn’t mind if they made more sequels or even a series.

@Mattygrand -

I'm with you. I thought it was fun without trying too hard to be funny. Not the best movie ever, but if i'd spent money to see it in theater, i wouldn't have felt ripped off.

Really looking forward to the sequel.

@DarkArrow19 - I was ready for it to be a huge bomb, all the reviews were like WORST MOVIE OF 2017, watched it... cant figure out why. I am not a fan of David Ayer's either and hated suicide squad... but man, this movie was not bad at all!

Watched it wasn't the best film ever but nowhere near deserves the negative reviews it got. I had some issues with a shootout that was poorly shot and it was a little to much Training Day 2.0 for me especially the twist. 7/10 goldblums for me

@Psychodad - totally agree with you, too much hate and wasn’t a bad film, but I too felt it was very much Training day mixed with Alien Nation!!!

I really, really enjoyed this movie. The concept is so cool. I thought Joel Edgerton was great. I really felt form him at times. I can't wait for the 2nd one.

@PC04 - I agree with you. His performance was done well since in my opinion people who wear monster make up and such have trouble giving a solid emotional performance. I can’t wait for the sequel although I do think the budget should be slightly lower.
