POOR THINGS Collaborators Emma Stone And Yorgos Lanthimos Will Reunite For A Remake Of SAVE THE GREEN PLANET

A collaboration between Yorgos Lanthimos and Emma Stone is almost certain to be a serious candidate for awards season, and they'll likely try to duplicate that effect with their newest project.

Emma Stone and filmmaker Yorgos Lanthimos have worked together on a number of projects to date, including the critically acclaimed 2018 picture The Favourite, the forthcoming anthology film Kinds of Kindness, the 2022 short film Bleat, and this year's award season favorite, Poor Things.

Previously, Stone and Lanthimos took home the Grand Jury Prize for The Favourite at the 75th Venice International Film Festival. The film received a number of high-profile nominations, including one for Best Supporting Actress at the 2019 Oscars.

Their most recent film Poor Things has garnered even more honors and awards than The Favorite. Stone is up for a Best Actress award at this year's Oscars and given her victories at the BAFTAs, Critics' Choice Awards, and Golden Globes, she is the clear favorite to take home the golden trophy.

It seems Stone and Lanthimos are set on a fifth collaboration, as news has broken that the pair will be reuniting on an upcoming remake of the South Korean fantasy comedy Save the Green Planet.

However, unlike Poor Things, it's reported that Stone will only have a supporting role in the film.

Per Variety, Save the Green Planet "revolves around a disillusioned young man who captures and tortures a businessman whom he believes to be part of an alien invasion. A battle of wits ensues between the captor, his devoted girlfriend, the businessman and a private detective."

The original 2003 film is something of a cult hit, winning several honors at various fantasy festivals and securing director Jang Joon-hwan the Golden Bell Award for best new director in Korea.

A North American remake of the film has been in the works for quite some time, with Jang originally set to direct from a script penned by Will Tracy (Succession, The Menu).

Kinds of Kindness is currently in post-production, so it's thought that Lanthimos will start filming Save the Green Planet this Summer.

Reflecting on their collaboration process, particularly on Poor Things, Stone stated, "Every second has been, like, a dream...We don't fight fight; we really communicate, strongly, in those moments. But I think we always resolve it relatively quickly."

Lanthimos added, "We can speak to each other, freely. So it helps. We like to ease into things. In general, we try to create this atmosphere which doesn't create tension."

Save The Green Planet Synopsis (original film)
A man kidnaps the CEO of a major chemical company, with the belief that the CEO is in fact an alien in disguise. His reason? He thinks the alien is the source of his recent unhappiness. Got a straightjacket?

They make a bunch of overrated schlock that has a small niche audience licking their a$$es. Make it twisted, perverted, & Korean. Then the Hollywood weirdo patrol will give you love and awards.
