Angela Bassett Comments On The Failure Of GREEN LANTERN And The New 'Amanda Waller'
2011's Green Lantern was a crushing disappointment, and one of its only real redeeming qualities was arguably the cast. While Angela Bassett didn't look much like her comic book counterpart, she was a good Amanda Waller, and reflects here on why the movie just didn't work...
Had things worked out a little differentely, we probabaly would have already had a Green Lantern 2 and Ryan Reynolds' Hal Jordan would be set to take on a starring role in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice next year instead of Deadpool. It wasn't meant to be though, and when IGN recently caught up with Angela Bassett to talk about her role in the upcoming Rainbow Six Siege video game, she had this to say about playing fan-favourite character Amada Waller in Green Lantern. "You know, I enjoyed working on that. Of course you wish it had been bigger and more successful."
"But you just don't know," she added. "I mean I know we put a lot of work in and I thought it was well done. You know, well-directed, acted, and cast. But, you never know what is going to just grab the audience and they won't let go. So, that particular one wasn't, but maybe it'll come back around. Because there were some real die-hard fans for the Wall." When the site mentioned that Warner Bros. are actually rebooting Green Lantern for a 2020 release and that Viola Davis is set to play Amanda Waller in next year's Suicide Squad, the actress was surprised, but said: "She'll be great. She'll be great." Do you wish Green Lantern was in the DCCU? Sound off below...
