FAN MADE: "In Brightest Day" by Gary Mitchell

CBM reader Gary Mitchell has produced an original song for the Green Lantern movie that ain't half bad. It's a GL anthem with "hard hitting guitar riffs, rock solid groove and exhilarating energy". Take a listen and tell him what you think. Maybe WB will give Gary a cut on the soundtrack.

This from Gary...

Awesome site, guys. I'm an independent musician and a huge Green Lantern fan, and I've written an original song that I'm working on getting noticed by the filmmakers. With hard hitting guitar riffs, rock solid groove and exhilarating energy, "In Brightest Day" is the perfect GL anthem, exalting themes of courage, perseverance and will power in the midst of impossible challenges, perfect to appeal to fans and non comic fans alike. I'd love for you to check it out on:

Wont lie, found my foot tappin at one point. not a bad song but in terms of the theme song for the GL movie...... pure cheese. all i could invision was Ryan Renolds doing the cha cha or the rumba on Dancing with the Stars while listening to it.

Maybe if this was the mid eighties, with JCVD playing GL... but the effort/ passion's appreciated.

Not a fan to be honest. Montage was ok, the song was like something I would have heard in like say a Save By The Bell episode, that mid 90's overly campy feel good raise your spirits type music. I think this style of music is a little past its time.

I can totally see this as the song that they play as the credits roll and the audience is leaving the theater.

Maybe if it was sung in Japanese. The tempo was too slow, the hook took too long. Good effort though, the visuals through me off so I stopped watching which made it a bit better.

I like all of the songs that are posted. All of them are top candidates in my book. Thank you, InterestingJohn for sharing. I remember an old song from the late 60's or early 70's when I was a kid (now I'm showing my age) where the lyric was "Superman and Green Lantern ain't got nothin' on me. When I make my mind up you're going to be mine. I'm sayin' right now." Or, something like that. I would love it if someone would help me with the song and artist. It's from the late60

to the whole song?

"
i saw you walking down that old brick road, the sun was out but it still was cold
you were on your way back home, past the old oak tree that stands all alone
in the middle of the tall green grass, where the crickets sing & the people pass
i stopped you, you know i had to ask, "where you goin'?"

but you told me to be on my way, i was curious so i had to stay
& follow you until you were home, i couldnt leave you all alone
not with the big bad wolf who lives up in the woods
or that wicked witch whos misunderstood
'cause shes talking shit, yeah shes done wrong
but i'll protect you baby, with this song

& fend off any unwanted guests, i'll break 'em down & crack their chests
give you their hearts, throw away the rest
i'll keep you safe
we could fall asleep under the old oak tree until we grow old & eventuly
dissapear into the dirt, hand in hand & not a single word

In brightest day, in blackest night,
No evil shall escape my sight
Let those who worship evil's might,
Beware my power, Green Lantern's light"

like i said, its only really the title & ending that have anything to do with GL :)

@InterestingJohn Kirby Krackle even has a theme Song for Teabag. "Teabagged" LMAO.

LYRICS:
Teabagging, it's what I gotta do
It's not like I'm desperate to put my junk on you,
I'm just sick of losing and dying all the time.

Teabagging, cause I'm killed by little kids
I get so frustrated cause I can never win,
so when I finally kill one I want them to never forget...

I've only got a moment for this embrace,
when you can see my squating on your stupid little face
And I know that you'll respawn in time,
but for now your carcass is all mine

I'm ignoring all the rifle fire over my head,
but if I cop a victory squat then it's cool if I am dead
Because I know that in a second you'll find me again....
then I'll be getting TEABAGGED!
Teabagged! Teabagged, oh no, oh yea!

Teabagging, it's not like I am proud
it's just a result of not running with the crowd
I remember controllers with less buttons than my TV remote

Teabagging, not like when we were young,
back in the day we just played and played for fun
Now it's cussing and yelling and sniping you fellow man

I've only got a moment for this embrace,
when you can see my squating on your stupid little face
And I know that you'll respawn in time,
but for now your carcass is all mine

I'm ignoring all the rifle fire over my head,
but if I cop a victory squat then it's cool if I am dead
Because I know that in a second you'll find me again....
then I'll be getting TEABAGGED!
Teabagged, oh no, oh yea!

The world is getting teabagged
The universe is teabagged
Interplanetary teabagged
Metaphysically teabagged

Teabagging, it's what I gotta do
It's not like I'm desperate to put my junk on you,
It's not my invention it's more just a sign of the times.

If it was to appear in the Green Lantern movie, it'd have to be on the jukebox(background music) in the bar scene or something. But I'm afraid to say that it's not a feature song. It could NOT go on the end credits. It's just an easy-listening rock song that sounds like... Santana wants to jam, but not wake the neighbours up.
Nice effort though.
Goodluck.

i think it's cool that he made a song for green lantern, i even outlined, and sort of got together a song of my own for the possible, but still hopeful Ghostbusters 3, it's called "No Control", and I hope to get it together one of these days, it might be on my newest album, tentatively titled "The Deceiver", or I might make it a stand-alone track, not sure yet though.. glad I'm not alone in making a possible movie-inspired song, it's good to know people are going through with it as well.. the more I think about it though I still might keep the song on it's own. all in all, regardless, i hope things go well and he gets lot of recognition and appreciation for the song, i thin it was a great and brilliant idea..

I thought the montage was appropriate as that's EXACTLY where this kind of song would appear in a movie.

Kind of put me in mind of those montages in Baywatch where you'd see bouncing boobies backed by some cheesy AOR trash, or in something Micheal Mann would have made before Heat.

Good effort, though I think incidental music is better suited to movies - the eighties are dead.

Kidding!

Just remembered that Morisette and Reynolds used to be engaged and its part of the album that was said to be inspired by Reynolds XD

Aloha CBMers, this is my first official post. I finally got off my lazy arse and created an account. I feel like I know so many of you already since I've been reading articles and posts for quite some time. Now with that out of the way, on to business. While I find this song enjoyable, I must be honest and say I do not think it suites a movie soundtrack. I do, however, feel it fits perfectly for an animated show like Super Hero Squad, The Batman, and Justice League. I kept waiting for the heavy guitar rifts, but they didn't come. This genre is more soft rock or pop than what I was expecting.
