In the latest issue of the Green Lantern comic book, DC and Warner Bros have revealed the following picture of Sinestro (basically a screen capture from the recently released trailer unfortunately) and a detailed set visit undertaken by the books editor, Adam Schlagman. Thanks to the guys over at The Green Lantern Corps Forum for both the picture and transcription.

THE GREATEST GREEN LANTERN!

Before Sinestro fell from grace, becoming the ultimate Green Lantern villain and one of the greatest foes in history...he was the finest Green Lantern ever.

Respected by his Corpsmen, and trusted by the immortal Guardians of the Universe, Sinestro is considered the Greatest Green Lantern, having preserved definitive order in his sector. This regal Korugarian commands attention and needed an actor that could portray the same. Could anyone live up to the perfect of Sinestro?

Have No Fear, for Mark Strong IS Sinestro!

When Mark Strong (Sherlock Holmes, Robin Hood, KickAss) arrived on the set decked out in makeup and prosthetics, I thought Sinestro had walked right off the comics page. Take a look at that still...just incredible!

Back in August I visited the Green Lantern set with Blackest Night and Sinestro Corps masterminds Geoff Johns and Ivan Reis - and what a trip it was. My mind is still blown from the experience. I was given the opportunity to hold the actual Power Battery and was able to wear the Green Lantern ring...In Brightest Day, In Blackest - sorry, got carried away. I could go on for pages about the amazing production designs, how surreal Ryan Reynolds looked in Hal Jordan's flight suit, or how awestruck I was by early CG tests of Oa and the different alien Green Lanterns, but instead let me focus on the supreme highlight.

Sinestro.

I witnessed scenes of Sinestro in action, addressing the entire Corps, and speaking with the Guardians. The entire time I was glued to my seat, unable to turn away. Mark nailed it all. The voice - the demeanor - everything! Mark, like much of the film, has taken his inspiration from Geoff Johns's extraordinary run on GREEN LANTERN.

The same care enthusiasm is being brought to the Green Lantern movie by the visionary director Martin Campbell (Casino Royale), producer Donald De Line and the rest of the cast and crew. I am beyond excited and can't wait for them to introduce the Green Lantern universe to millions on June 17th 2011. It will be the year of Green Lantern.

Check out more behind-the-scenes information next issue as the anticipation continues to build. May your holidays be green and bright!

Long live the Corps!!!

Adam Schlagman
(Green Lantern Editor)

What a pity they used what is basically an old picture for this reveal...I seem to recall the solicitation saying that it would feature a member of the Corps, but you'd think they could do a little better than something we've already seen in the trailer! (unless they didnt know that at the time) Still, the scene description is pretty interesting and it's good to once again hear something I think we've all known for a while now. Mark Strong will be [frick]ing awesome as Sinestro. :)

Mark Strong's portrayal of Sinestro is the sole reason I have any interest left in this movie. I'll eat my [frick]ing hat if Ryan Reynolds can convince me that he's Hal Jordan, and not Ryan Reynolds douching around outer space.

Mark Strong will rock it!!! Shame about douche bag Reynolds he is going to turn it into a kids flick.. PS.... what kind of moron would let Scarlet go?? like i said before: Douce Bag!

@Ramsos. The kind of guy who was voted sexiest man alive. Scarlett is [frick]ing beautiful, but she's far from the best. At least he got to tap it for a while. On to the next conquest, Captain Reynolds!

You know what I was just thinking... if Campbell is director, and he directed (in my eyes) the best James Bond film ever made (Casino Royale), how could Green Lantern be anything other than amazing? Yeah, the trailer didn't wow us, Mark Strong did, and hopefully the film will live up to Campbell's great film work so far. It's hard to doubt somebody who has good serious films under his belt.

This movie is going to be huge! great way for DC to kick off the decade first Green Lantern, then The Dark Knight Rises, then Man of Steel, then Flash and much more on the way like Wonder Woman, GL 2, Aquaman and more, the time has come for DC to Rise!

@brazilianbatman - none of them. Unless their lives are cut tragically short their roles will never be blown out of proportion like Heaths Oscar worthy but ultimately over worshipped Joker. Loki is the villain I'm holding my breath for. I get the feeling Red Skull with be another Lex Luthor, great actor (if not perfect) but might be hammed up too much. Sinestro will no doubt be brilliant but Loki will be absolute perfection. Just my opinion.

Ok so we've seen the pic before. What I was happy to read was a confirmation that the Guardians are indeed present! Sinestro speaking with the Guardians, probably about Abin Sur's fatal mission or to give his blessing for Hal Jordan to remain a Green Lantern!

Hi guys, I am back
Totally agree with Deadpool72 about Strong being the saviour and not only that I believe he will be the best thing about the entire film.
Concerning the trailer - it's only a teaser trailer, so perhaps some of the more thrilling stuff might be shown in an actual theatrical trailer.
Also, KB's Thor is going to be spectacular in terms of its directing, actors and story/plot handling whilst Green Lantern will pack more of an andrenalin rush. Strong's performance will be the best of all.
