We are over a month away from witnessing the spectacle that is the MCU’s space cosmos in Guardians of the Galaxy, it is indeed a large universe that Marvel studios is building and Marvelites will be hoping for easter eggs or nods to some of their favorite alien characters that may or may not be part of the Guardians plot in the film, but that form some of the Marvel comics space universe.
10. Cosmo
In the trailer of the film we see the celestials severed head; that alone should suggest the appearance of the Cosmo the telekinetic Russian space dog who happens to be the security chief of Knowhere. However James Gunn has mentioned that he will not be appearing in the film but did seem coy to answer whether Cosmo will appear in perhaps a sequel of the film. Gunn probably does not want to make the film more out of the ordinary than it already, let’s be grateful to have a bipedal talking raccoon and gigantic tree that has a catch phrase.
09. Badoon
To those who have read the comic prelude to Thor: The Dark World, the comic featured the Badoon which is an alien race that is older than both the Skrulls and the Kree, the Badoon have also been at war with the both of them and had formed an alliance with the latter to destroy the other. Perhaps we see a Badoon in the film that is plotting with Ronan the Accuser or one that is a civilian on planet Xandar.
08. Universal Church of Truth
This religious organization plays an important role in a number of the Guardians storyline, in one of the Guardians comics; the organization is responsible for the resurrection of Thanos who happens to be a significant antagonist in the MCU. Hopefully we will get to see an MCU version of this organization in Guardians of the Galaxy.
07. Supreme Intelligence
Phil Coulson and agent Garrett are the only reason beside the Kree appearing in Guardians of the Galaxy that lead me to believe in the Supreme Intelligence’s existence in the MCU. Both agents begin scribbling and “seeing” the universe, this may be because of the GH drug which is Kree blood. The Kree are connected to the Supreme Intelligence and I for one would be surprised if I did not hear a mention or an easter egg about the Supreme Intelligence.
06. Inhumans
I know they are not an alien race but the Kree are responsible for their creation and I am still not sold that Loki’s Staff created both Quicksilvers and Scarlett Witch’s powers; the staff may be used by Strucker to control the twins for all we know. Their introduction in the MCU could occur in the film as a mention of how Kree tested on humans and thus bringing forth a more in depth understanding of the “Age of Miracles”. I think that would make more sense rather than the supposedly mind gem (infinity stone) being responsible for the twins powers.
05. Skrulls
Personally it is a dream of mine that the MCU should adapt the Kree/Skrull war storyline into their film universe. They could simply plant the seeds in the film in the form of an easter egg by mentioining their existence or the existence of their planet. Or maybe one of the Skrulls may have infiltrated the Norva Corps or be one of Ronan’s Kree henchmen through their shape-shifting.
04. Mistress Death
The words mentioned by The Other in The Avengers mid- credits scene which were “to challenge them is to court Death” to ordinary moviegoers this does not mean a thing, but to Marvelites this is tantalizing in that Thanos’ rampage and destruction in the Infinity Gauntlet storyline is because of mistress Death and so it would be fitting for the Guardians film to feature more information as to who or what Death is and her role in Thanos’ life.
03. Captain Marvel
This would be an important nod as much as the easter egg nods in Iron Man 2 of both Thor and Captain America. I believe that one day there will be a Captain Marvel movie and the Guardians of the Galaxy would be a perfect way much like Iron Man 2 to introduce this character who also plays a significant role in issues that feature the Avengers.
02. Nova
We know that the Norva Corps will be a part of the movie’s storyline as well as Rhomann Dey and the planet Xandar where their bases are located. It would be interesting to see how Nova will be introduced in the MCU and a simple easter egg hear would further interest Marvelites to the MCU’s galactic universe.
01. Adam Warlock
I frankly think I’m not the only one who saw that cocoon-like specimen in the Thor: The Dark World’s mid-credits scene. This of course may be a nod to Adam Warlock who is plays a significant role in the In the Infinity Gauntlet which happens to be the storyline Whedon and the gang seem to be developing since the infinity stones seem to be the McGuffin’s of most of the MCU films, I hope that there are more easter eggs or nods to the character or perhaps an appearance or mention of the crimson Warlock.
So these are just a few characters that Marvelites would be ecstatic to have them mentioned in the Guardians of The Galaxy in the form of easter eggs. Leave your comments below on characters you want to have mentioned in this new endeavor Marvel studios is undertaking. Guardians of the Galaxy will roll out on August 1st be sure to catch it.
