GOTG VOL. 3 Star Zoe Saldaña Responds After Becoming First Actor To Star In Four $2B-Grossing Movies

When Avatar: The Way of Water passed $2 billion worldwide, Zoe Saldaña became the first actor in history to star in four movies to reach that milestone, and has now shared an Instagram post in response.

To date, only six movies have managed to cross the $2 billion mark at the global box office, and only one actor has appeared in four of them!

James Cameron's Avatar: The Way of Water recently hit the $2B milestone, which means Zoe Saldaña - who plays Na'vi warrior Neytiri - has now featured in that sequel, the original Avatar, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame.

The other two films are Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and Titanic - which Cameron also directed.

It's an impressive achievement, and Saldaña has taken to Instagram to acknowledge her fans' support while sharing a video montage spotlighting clips of her as Neytiri and Guardians of the Galaxy's Gamora.

"Wow! What can I say about today?," she captioned the post. "It has been a rollercoaster of emotions for sure. Gratitude for the acknowledgment, and absolute exhilaration that I get to wake up every morning and go do what I love. Never in a million years did I ever aim to make history by being in these movies. I’ve always been lucky to have been chosen and asked to join these amazing, groundbreaking projects."

"Thank you to @jamescameronofficial @jamesgunn and @therussobrothers for trusting me with their vision. Thank YOU to all our fans for making these movies what they are today - history in the making!"

Saldaña didn't appear in the recent Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, but Gamora is expected to be a major focal point of the upcoming GOTG Vol. 3, and may show up in the next two Avengers movies.

Cameron also has at least two more Avatar sequels planned, so she might well get the opportunity to rack up a few more $2B hits!

You know people crap on Peter/Star-Lord for what happened in Avengers Infinity War with Gamora but it made a hell of a lot more sense then the crap Jake Sully went with in Avatar Way of Water which doesn't get called out enough for being an even stupider idea...

Oh and congrats to Zoe for starring in all of these films that mini rant wasn't on you but on the writing decisions certain people made which relate to one of your characters.

@DianaGohan - I really don't understand why running away was something he thought he would help, because a) the jungle is his home turf, especially after 15 years and b) he already defeated Quaritch before.

Anyway, I actually like Quill's arc in Infinity War. His arc with Gamora had some great moments, like this one:

@DianaGohan - superbly debatable.

@DianaGohan - Only dumb people complained about that, Quill acted completely on character, he is an impulsive person.

@TheHumanSpider2 - that was super consistent with Quill. I agree. Remember when he blasted at EGO without second thought once Ego threw in that he gave his mother cancer?

@bkmeijer1 - everyone forgets Peter was about to KILL Gamora in this scene. Like, he was about to shoot the person he loves. That’s hectic, and in the end Thanos kills her anyway. His response is justified

@globaltravels - yeah, it is pretty heavy if you think about it. Didn't even think about it that way yet

Congrats to her!

But just for the sake of couriousity, shouldn‘t the headline have said: ”Zoe Saldaña Becomes First ActRESS to Have 4 Movies Make Over $2 Billion at Box Office”? I mean actor is one of the very few English nouns to have a particular female form. Isn‘t it?

@AnungUnRama - I'm kinda confused by it too. Seems like at one point we just started using actor as a term for any person that acts, regardless of gender

@AnungUnRama - I think they are trying to do away with the Actress label. Something about being equal pay and billing, I don't know, just guessing. Except when it comes to the Oscars and other awards.

@Eagles0589 - here is a link that kinda says why, but it is one person's opinion. https://www.stage32.com/lounge/acting/Actor-vs-Actress-what-is-the-correct-title-now

@AnungUnRama - I still use the term actress, but she's the first - male or female - so I went with actor to avoid confusion.
