To promote the DVD release of
Guardians of the Galaxy, Collider spoke directly to the director James Gunn himself where he gave us an insight to the sequel. Gunn, who is also writing the sequel revealed that
“I have the whole story written out. A pretty in-depth story.” Plot details are uder wraps the now but one man who is in the know is Marvel Studios head-honcho Kevin Feige. When asked about his reaction, Gunn siad that
“I knew where I wanted to go with the sequel. After the movie came out, I went and sat down with Kevin [Feige], and said ‘What are we going to do?’ and I said, ‘This,” and he said, ‘Okay.’ And that was it.” Gunn has teased the possibility on new characters appearing in the sequel before although he remained, in true Marvel form, pretty hush about the subject.
“Here’s the thing: We’ll meet some new characters in the next one, but I can’t…I’m not going to tell anyone who those people are. What else do we’ve got to give? I don’t want to spoil it now, two years before the movie comes out.” With the likes of Captain Marvel and The Hulk rumoured to appear, it will be interesting to see who is included. Another character, who was teased as part of The Collector's lair, Adam Warlock, could also appear in the second installment. Yet, Gunn seems unsure if we will see the character at all as he indicates that the cocoon was not a direct confirmation.
“You see what’s been commonly known now as ‘Adam Warlock’s cocoon’, which is based on Adam Warlock’s cocoon, but I didn’t actually intend to be Adam Warlock for all the people who think Adam Warlock escaped the explosion. I’m not sure exactly how it’s going to happen. I do like the character of Adam Warlock, but I’m not sure that’s where he start out or if he’ll be in any of the next twelve Guardians of the Galaxy movies." One thing that sepearted
Guardians of the Galaxy 2 from the other announced movies was the numbering in the title. Gunn still doesnt know if the series will follow the
Iron Man route or not but he does say that he has
"tried to come up with other names" and will change it if he comes up with anything better. Do you have any title suggestions? Share them below and check out the full video interview too.
