Deadline reports that Marvel Studios has a short list of actors for the lead role of 'Star-Lord' in Guardians of the Galaxy. They have reportedly confirmed that Joel Edgerton (Warrior), Jack Huston (Boardwalk Empire), Jim Sturgess (Cloud Atlas), Lee Pace (The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey) and Eddie Redmayne (Les Miserables) have all signed test deals for the lead role of 'Peter Quill'. However, while all of them are currently in the running, they are also said to be interested in Garrett Hedlund (Tron Legacy), James Marsden (X-Men) and Sullivan Stapleton (Animal Kingdom). We're obviously at a very early stage of casting at this point, but which of these actors do you guys think would be the best choice? Be sure to sound off with your thoughts in the usual place!

My dream casting for this has always been Timothy Olyphant. Of those mentioned I guess Hedlund is my choice.

Would rather see marsden return as cyclops, he never really got the chance to play cyclops as the leader of the x-men in the movies because let's face it he only really got one full movie and even then it wasn't much.

I like the idea of James Marsden of being in GOTG, but I can't imagine anyone else's voice except Steve Downes as Star-Lord. I blame AEMH for such a thing. But you have to admit, his voice is pretty much perfect for it. Even though Downes is like Master Chief and all. DId I just say 'like'? *sigh*

These are some interesting casting choices. Can't wait to see they're choices for the rest of the rest of the team, especially Rocket Raccoon. My choice would be Simon Pegg.

Huston would be great as Adam Warlock but I would pick Marsden if he wasn't already in Fox-Men.... Hedlund would work quite well if his acting has been cleaned up but I really don't see Edgerton as Star Lord. I'm really pulling for James Marsden.

Either way, I'm confident with the casting and Way stoked for this movie.

Out of all of these, I'd go with Edgerton...I haven't seen Warrior, but he was good in The Grey, so..make it happen Marvel.

Jack Houston doesn't look like the ideal Peter Quill, but he can act. I would love to see him as Dr Strange. Looks kind of like RDJ too. Garrett Hedlund looks the part but I'm not a fan of his acting skills. If those are the choices its a tie between Lee Pace and Eddie Redmayne.

I can honestly say I would be fine with any of those guys as Star Lord. But Edgerton was awesome in Warrior.

edgerton & huston would bring something great to the role. im especially curious about how huston would approach it. from the comments i can see that everyone is just as blown away by richard harrow as i am.

PLEASE NO MASS EFFECT SUITS!!!!! KEEP IT ORIGINAL!!!!! I would love it if they made Starlord the pilot that shot the nuke at NYC and somehow got sucked in the portal. But it looks like this might be like an origin for thanos so the timeline wont match up with that. Is anything confirmedwith the script yet?

Holy Shit!!! Joel Edgerton was my top choice for Star Lord ever since the movie was announced! I was gonna mention this on the Daredevil article but then I thought [frick] it, and now I see this report where Marvel may actually be considering him... my is mind [frick]ing blown. Oh and btw, that man has a golden voice, well to me anyway.
