GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Star Vin Diesel Claims Marvel Studios Wants To Make A PLANET X Movie

Guardians of the Galaxy star Vin Diesel is known for making some bold claims about his role in the MCU, but the actor has now revealed that Marvel Studios is looking to make a Planet X movie down the line!

Ever since he first appeared in 2014's Guardians of the Galaxy, Groot has been a fan-favourite character among MCU fans. After sacrificing himself to save his teammates during that adventure, the sentient tree would return in a new form as Baby Groot in the sequel.

Later, we'd see Groot become a moody teenager, though he'll be an adult again in next year's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. After appearances in the Avengers and Thor franchises, we'd catch up with the character in Disney+'s I Am Groot, a downright wonderful series of shorts that showed what the youngster was getting up to after being regrown by Rocket.

Fast & Furious star Vin Diesel plays Groot in the MCU, and he's previously claimed the upcoming threequel will feature the debut of "Alpha Groot." Filmmaker James Gunn has denied that, but the actor is now making another bold statement about the hero's future.

Taking to Instagram, Diesel said, "So my niece called me and said...thank you uncle Vin for making I Am Groot, haha...the shorts written and directed by the talented Kristin Lepore."

"It was a blast making, but it’s also a blast watching it with my angels," he continued. "No wonder Marvel wants to make the Planet X movie."

Planet X?!

That's the home of Groot's species, though we find it hard to believe Marvel Studios has plans for two hours of "I am Groot" action. We'd bet that this is Diesel just looking to generate some excitement among fans and will this project into reality in the process. He has been known to drop spoilers, though, so we'll see if Planet X really is added to the already busy MCU slate.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is currently set to be released on May 5, 2023.

It'll be the first feature film with a runtime of 8 minutes lmao. Those bits were cute, one was really good. But the whole runtime isn't even a tv show!

@CorndogBurglar - It worked for Minions. 1st Minions movie made a billion dollars and Groot/Minions are quite similar. It will probably piss off MCU fans for taking up a slot in their phase but families will probably love it like Minions.
