Director James Gunn took part in a "quarantine watch party" of the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie last night, following along with fans on Twitter and answering their questions.

Gunn shared lots of intriguing new tidbits about the intergalactic A-holes' first adventure, but he also touched on GOTG Vol. 3, reiterating that Rocket's story is going to be integral to the plot.

This isn't the first time we've heard that the surly raccoon would be a big part of the third movie, but here the director hints that the character's tragic origin story may come into play, and it sounds like we may even get some kind of flashback to whatever experiments were performed on Rocket to modify and enhance his intelligence/abilities.

If Gunn sticks to Rocket's comic book backstory, we could also pay a visit to the prison colony on Halfworld.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 doesn't have a release date, and although Gunn has reportedly completed the script, it's probably going to be quite a while before production gets underway.

More focus on Rocket aside, what do you guys hope to see for the third (final?) installment in Gunn's trilogy? let us know in the comments.
