Director James Gunn took part in a "quarantine watch party" of the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie last night, following along with fans on Twitter and answering their questions.

Gunn shared lots of intriguing new tidbits about the intergalactic A-holes' first adventure, but he also touched on GOTG Vol. 3, reiterating that Rocket's story is going to be integral to the plot.

This isn't the first time we've heard that the surly raccoon would be a big part of the third movie, but here the director hints that the character's tragic origin story may come into play, and it sounds like we may even get some kind of flashback to whatever experiments were performed on Rocket to modify and enhance his intelligence/abilities.

If Gunn sticks to Rocket's comic book backstory, we could also pay a visit to the prison colony on Halfworld.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 doesn't have a release date, and although Gunn has reportedly completed the script, it's probably going to be quite a while before production gets underway.

More focus on Rocket aside, what do you guys hope to see for the third (final?) installment in Gunn's trilogy? let us know in the comments.

That comment about Drax is interesting. Could be a throwaway reference to his line about conception in Vol 2 or could be a hint to where his story goes in Vol 3

@Necropolitan - He really is and Bradley Cooper does a great job with his performance. I’ll never not love the fact that he cared enough too actually create a character for Rocket instead of showing up doing his own voice and taking the easy money.

And it's not really his voice either. If you didn't know it was Bradley Cooper you wouldn't be able to guess - and his comic timing is impeccable.

@Goldboink - Absolutely! After 6 years my friend found out it was him because I mentioned it like two weeks ago. Soooo good!

I still think that we will learn that his creator is The High Evolutionary. If the trilogy is focusing on childhood traumas it would make sense to show his creation at the hands of a villain known for creating animals.

Also since Drax apparently doesn’t have any childhood trauma, it makes me wonder if they will bring his daughter back and play with her trauma in relationship to him?

When Rocket cries it gets harder to remain in control of one's emotion, so I am sure James Gunn will bring his A+ material here.
