The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special is set to be released on Disney+ this Christmas, with writer and director James Gunn confirming that it will be the same length as a regular TV special. This suggests a runtime of between 30 minutes and an hour, while the filmmaker would later note that the story takes place between the events of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and the upcoming Vol. 3.
That means this story could take place shortly before Avengers: Infinity War, though we'd bet on it being after Avengers: Endgame based on Gunn's comments that we'll meet some new characters.
Either way, these set photos appear to confirm that The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special will take place on Earth. In the images below, Christmas decorations can be seen adorning houses in Beverly Hills, while seats have been attached to an upside-down police car. Could that be Rocket's work?
We don't know what's going on here, but there are rumblings online that Kevin Bacon might somehow be involved. The Guardians of the Galaxy franchise has mentioned him on numerous occasions, so the team visiting him in this Holiday Special might be a fun payoff to a long-running MCU gag.
