Last night was the World Premiere of new Pixar movie
Onward, and during a red carpet interview, star Chris Pratt was asked about
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. However, when the interviewer asked why Thor isn't part of the movie, the actor was quick to point out that no one knows what the plan is now!
"How do you know that Thor's not in Guardians 3?" the actor asked. "We haven't shot it yet." Pratt then playfully added, "He might be in Guardians 3. We don't know, there's no definitive yes or no on that."
Thor: Love and Thunder is coming out before
Vol. 3, so chances are the God of Thunder will have parted ways with the team when that movie starts. There's nothing to say he couldn't reunite with them, of course, but Gunn likely has some specific plans for the team, and shoehorning Thor into that could cause problems. Bear in mind that the next
Guardians of the Galaxy movie should have been released next year had the filmmaker not been (temporarily) fired by Disney.
As a result, the threequel could have gone through any number of changes to fit into the wider Marvel Cinematic Universe and that may or may not include an appearance from Thor.
Right now, Gunn is busy working on
The Suicide Squad, so chances are it will be a little while yet before he gets back to work on
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. With any luck, though, we'll have some firm casting details to share in the not too distant future...
