A Quiet Place was a huge sleeper hit for Paramount, one that the studio would not expect to transform into a potential franchise. Unsurprisingly, after the runaway success of the genre film, Paramount is itching back for more, recruiting one of the key creatives of the the original to return for another round.

John Krasinski, who starred, directed, and wrote the predecessor spilled during a Q&A his capacity in the film. And though there is no indication that he will reprise his role as director, it is comforting to know that his capacity is a major one.

They heard some pitches, and I told [producer] Drew [Form] about this little idea . . . He told me to think about it a little longer. And then I thought, 'This might really work.' So, I'm currently writing the sequel.

Pitches from different filmmakers may imply that Paramount may be making this an anthology series, creating more films in the lively world Krasinski established. But it is also possible they are working on a direct sequel as well. Considering the fact that the predecessor's ending seems fitting and definitive for the arcs of the characters, it will be interesting to see whether Krasinski will be following the same family for another movie.

A Quiet Place 2 will scare its way into theaters May 15, 2020

First one was great. I really wonder how they'll move forward with a sequel. In a way I kinda liked it as a one-off with the ambiguous ending.

Krasinski would be a good Read Richards. But to be honest I think Reed is a perfect character to race bend. Think about its 2018 what us the likely good that all the worlds smartest people are white American. I always liked Dev Patel as Reed

"A Quieter Place".
Seriously, this is the kind of movie that should stay on it's own. Sequels can water it down.

Am I the only person who didn't think this was a great movie? It was good for what it was but I couldn't get over the monsters.I mean a sufficiently motivated teen age could have defeated one. Not to mention the army that actually has sonic weaponry.

@DeathSeal - No they could have not of. The monsters are indestructible, and faster than a wild dog. And they need the right frequency to kill them.

@LawyerCipher - I thought they just used echo location like a bat. The feed back frequency was especially pain full. But the waterfall showed the that any sufficiently loud noise was enough to confuse there sences. That's what I got from it anyway.

@DeathSeal - I thought the army would protect the big cities and the smaller towns would be cut off...

@UltimaRex - I could see that. I guess I just assumed the world was over run but that would make sense.

@DeathSeal - You are correct, but confusing them is not enough. They can presumbling survive tank hits as long as there armor is safe. And remember when confused they simply retreat....or go mad.
