HALLOWEEN: Michael Myers Returns To Terrorise Laurie Strode In This Terrifying First Trailer

The first trailer for Blumhouse's Halloween revival (it's technically not a reboot, but a direct sequel to John Carpenter's original) is now online, and it really is as intense and terrifying as we'd been led to believe.

The story picks up 40 years after the first film, with Michael Myers making his escape from a mental hospital after a bit of very foolish taunting from a film crew. Then, we cut to Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) who has been waiting for the day the masked maniac made his way back to Haddonfield so she can finish him off for good.

As great as this looks, the premise really doesn't seem all that different from Halloween H2O, so hopefully there's a few originals twists and turns that aren't signposted in this teaser.

At any rate, have a look, and let us know what you think.

@Nebula - IKR! I LOVED the trailer, feels so classic yet modern and like an actual sequel lol. And both Michael and Laurie look great, goddamn i can't wait.

This looks great but I’m left confused to how Michael is in a mental hospital when the only film in this canon is 1 & it ends with Michael gone & nobody knows where he’s gone to

@LEVITIKUZ - I'm sure those questions will be answered in the first 15 minutes or so of the film.

@LEVITIKUZ - So there basically doing a semi-sequel to Holloween 1 .....ah that sucks !! I only just seen H20 a couple of weeks ago. Was actually curious to see how they were gonna get around Michaels head being chopped off.

This is gonna be the "Superman Returns" of the Holloween Franchise.

@emeraldtaurus - There is a sequel to H2O called Halloween: resurrection. It answers that question... and has busta rhymes in it...

@emeraldtaurus - I'm not sure how you can say this'll be the "Superman Returns" of Halloween when you just admitted to not seeing the rest of the series sans Halloween 1 and H20

@emeraldtaurus - It is explained in the sequel to H20

@emeraldtaurus - they actually answer the chopped off head question in Halloween: Resurrection and it's actually kinda plausible...

@noahthegrand - Except the fear vanishes the moment you learn the first film is called Halloween and the rebooted sequel is called Halloween.

So the order to watch each film:

@The72nd - He was shot 4-5 times and fell from a second-story room. I'm sure that he was incapacitated at that point.

Trailer looks good. The Key to this is Myers being the badass, not Laurie Strode as some reports of this have claimed. This is not Star Wars here.

@harley2011

Laurie Strode is a badass though.

@regularmovieguy - Not compared to her brother.
LEVITIKUZ
LEVITIKUZ - 6/8/2018, 7:28 AM
@harley2011 - Um what? When has Michael not been a badass?

What sold me on this trailer was Laurie, not Michael. If Laurie didn’t come off as this paranoid badass preparing for Michael all these years, I wouldn’t have cared
harley2011
harley2011 - 6/8/2018, 7:31 AM
@LEVITIKUZ - It is not a display of her, it’s of him obviously. If she survives or kills him, fine. It is just how it’s done. If they show her kicking his ass and outsmarting him for 20 minutes, it will cost them.
regularmovieguy
regularmovieguy - 6/8/2018, 7:33 AM
@harley2011

Michael is a different kind of monster. Laurie being paranoid and preparing for his escape makes a lot of sense and I’m glad they went in this direction.
LEVITIKUZ
LEVITIKUZ - 6/8/2018, 7:33 AM
@harley2011 - We saw her defeat Michael in the first Halloween & kick his ass but now it will cost them after she’s been waiting & preparing for 40 years for Michael?

What the [frick] are you talking about? Stop talking
harley2011
harley2011 - 6/8/2018, 7:42 AM
@LEVITIKUZ - Loomis shot him, she was on the ground. This she did nothing but stay away in 2 and Loomis shot him. You never even seen these movies. The selling point is the man in the mask, not the old woman.
LEVITIKUZ
LEVITIKUZ - 6/8/2018, 7:50 AM
@harley2011 - Oh yea that’s right. Forgot that

Just because I have a brain fart doesn’t mean I haven’t seen the film as my comment on top shows I have

Yes the selling point is Michael but you can’t care for Michael. He’s not a talker and doesn’t have a personality like Freddy or Pennywise. To make Michael work, you need to make the other characters work. Hell even with Freddy & Penny, you need to make the other characters work & care for them. If you don’t care for Laurie & the film is just a gore fest of Michael killing everyone, who cares? It’s boring, dumb, & not horror at all.

It’s easy to be sold on Michael being badass. It’s harder to sell on the human characters & make us care for them. If you don’t sell us on the human characters, like the trailer did, nobody would care
