Locke & Key Pilot To Screen At Comic Con

The series won't be happening, but those who make the trip to this years Comic Con will get the chance to see what COULD have been as the pilot for Fox's adaptation of Joe Hill's comic will screen..

I have to say, I was very surprised that Locke & Key wasn't picked up by Fox considering the talent involved. I really want to take a look at that pilot and see for myself what reasons there may have been behind the network's decision to cancel the show. Well now Comic Con attendees will get that chance, and who knows, if there is a strong enough positive reaction, could it get the network chiefs to reconsider?

> Deadline report..

A Locke & Key session will be held on July 22 at 10:30 AM and will include a screening of the pilot, followed by a panel discussion featuring Hill, Rodriguez, the pilot's writer/executive producer Josh Friedman and executive producers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci. Behind the event is the publisher of the Locke & Key comic, IDW Publishing. IDW asked the pilot's producer, 20th Century Fox TV, for permission, and with the studio's blessing, it moved to book space for the screening. Because the convention is so packed, there was some juggling involved, so the screening will be in Room 8, and the panel next door in Room 9. "This one-time-only screening of the entire pilot will show you just what a void there will be on your TVs this fall," IDW's ad materials say.

Directed by Mark Romanek and starring such high profile names as Miranda Otto and Nick Stahl, the pilot was considered a pretty big deal for a while. But despite the buzz, it failed to impress Fox enough to take a chance on it. The studio shopped it around to other networks but when the costs mounted, decided it was best to pull the plug entirely. A real shame, but at least a lucky few will get to see the pilot and hopefully, eventually, we all will.

There should be a premium channel on cable called STFC, "shows that fox cancelled". I think it would be a hit.

It's kinda like they're teasing us or pouring salt in the wound.Similar to Virtuality a couple of years ago.

It's like they're saying, "We have this really cool pilot we're going to show you, but guess what, you won't be getting anymore episodes because we passed on it.F-U".
