Even though The Weinstein Company has been working on a "Hellraiser" remake for years, Clive Barker's people have just informed STYD that a separate "Hellraiser" movie is going into production.

The film is called "Hellraiser: Revelations" and is based on a script by Gary Tunnicliffe, who previously worked on the FX for many of the sequels in the franchise.

The new movie will be directed by Victor Garcia, who last helmed "Mirrors 2," which probably means that this new installment will head straight to DVD.

I think Hellraiser actually deserves a respectful remake, or a new version of the original story, just to keep the material out there.

Man, is anything scarier than Cenobites? I freak'n hate those guys. Jason and Michael have knives and can kill you, but Cenobites can summon hooks and chains and blades and crap out of THIN AIR, eat your skin, imprison you in some hell dimension for ever, or horribly torture and mutilate you until you're one of them.

These movies have given me a life long aversion to puzzle boxes. Do NOT screw around with them. DON'T DO IT!

From the article I read, the original on STYD, it clearly states this is NOT the remake that was planned, but is a new stand-alone film. Doesn't mean it won't suck though.
