After last season ended with one of Supernatural's best cliffhangers ever, Mamma Winchester made her triumphant return in tonight's season premiere, but her reunion with Dean was cut a little short with her youngest son Sam still M.I.A.

Next week, Dean, Casitel, & Mary follow-up a lead pointing to Sam's location and head out to rescue him even though Dean has trepidations about Mary tagging along, but saying no to your recently resurrected mother is much easier said than done. Elsewhere, Crowley discovers Lucifer has possessed rock star Vince Vicente, played by guest star Rick Springfield. Check out the new promo below:

RICK SPRINGFIELD GUEST STARS - Dean (Jensen Ackles), Castiel (Misha Collins) and Mary (guest star Samantha Smith) have a lead on Sam (Jared Padalecki) and set out to rescue him. Dean is uncomfortable with putting Mary in danger but she insists on going along. Meanwhile, Crowley (Mark A. Sheppard) is tipped off that Lucifer has taken over the body of rock star Vince Vicente (guest star Rick Springfield). Thomas J. Wright directed the episode written by Brad Buckner & Eugenie Ross-Leming (#1202). Original airdate 10/20/2016.

In the show’s tenth season, Sam and Dean Winchester (Jared Padalecki & Jensen Ackles) faced their most personal threat yet. The all-powerful Mark of Cain threatened to consume Dean, turning him into one of the monsters he has spent his life hunting. Meanwhile, a formidable witch, Rowena (Ruth Connell), rose to power to claim her position at the right hand of the King of Hell, Crowley (Mark A. Sheppard). Once Rowena revealed herself to be Crowley’s mother, the King was forced to choose between his family and the Winchesters — all while Sam, with the help of fallen angel Castiel (Misha Collins), Crowley and some unlikely allies, waged a desperate battle to save Dean from the Mark of Cain. Taking matters into his own hands, Dean paid a terrible price to break free of the curse, but with Death defeated and Darkness freed upon the Earth, the Winchesters will need all the help they can get.

Supernatural features:
Jared Padalecki as Sam Winchester
Jensen Ackles as Dean Winchester
Misha Collins as Castiel
Mark A. Sheppard as Crowley
Samantha Smith as Mary Winchester

the show should have ended at season 5, that's when the creator left, and had always planned on ending it, after that it has just been a slow decline in quality, I don't even watch anymore, I just check episode summery once in a while, and from what im reading the stories are crap also, they went from folk lore and mythology being real to imaginary friends being real. why is this still on, its on season 12, that's longer then smallville. I Liked Supernatural at one point, but its really just a second rate Buffy nock off, what made Buffy work is that Joss Whedon planned things out years in advanced, and set stuff up that wouldn't be fully paid off until another season or two. Supernatural was kind of like that for the first 5 seasons now they are just pulling stuff out of their ass. if a creator has an endgame stick with it, Breaking Bad: Five Seasons, was a great show. Avatar The Last Airbender planned Three Seasons, was amazing. Orphan Black was planned out from the beginning to last 5 seasons, its ending next year and every season has been great so far

@dracula - Supernatural had a basic plan for five years where each season was only realized after renewal, but it ain't a second rate Buffy. Buffy had a slow decline in quality with a few gems along the way. This still maintains quality if not cohesion.

@Yaf - Buffy was good from beginning to end, there are seasons that aren't as good as others like Season 6 and 7, they have flaws but still managed to tell a good story, expand the mythology of the show in a way that fit the tone of the series, and still had great pay off. Supernatural seems to be getting into Charmed territory of badness with their gimicy plots like Dean becoming a demon, or a teenager or acting like a dog, Buffy even in its final 2 seasons never got gimicy. also if you look at a lot of the supernatural plots of later seasons, they ripped of Buffy quite a few times, technically even season 5 finale of supernatural in some ways ripped off the season 5 finale of Buffy. The first 5 seasons of Supernatural are great, but it is obvious Buffy had a big influence on the series. But like I said Buffy didn't start to decline until around season 6, so Joss Whedon made the right choice he finished the season and used the next one to finish the series in a saticfying way, by the end it was still a great show. Supernatural has been in decline since season 6 with occasional improvements, but is just getting worst, and gimicy, its been in decline longer then when it was on top

@dracula - Long response bro, but you bringing [frick]ing Charmed into the discussion ends it right there for me.

First 5 seasons are brilliant television. 6 was pretty bad, 7 was almost decent, 8-11 have been god awful. Watch an episode like 'Abandon All Hope' and see the way the show handled Lucifer. Now he's being played by Rick Springfield and wants to be a rockstar this season. Dracula is right, this show isn't much better than Charmed at this point. Don't know what happened.they're clearly just making shit up and seeing throwing it out there to see what sticks these days.
