Hello lucky readers, it seems you were enticed to read my article. I thank you. "Unsung Heroes" will be a series of Editorials by yours truly, that will feature some afterthoughts on various comic book movies and related media. The series will focus on movies & shows that are not exactly mainstream or popular.
In Volume 1, I will be focusing on a few fantastic works by Stephen King. Stephen King is a horror and science-fiction novelist. King has written over twenty novels and collections. Many filmmakers have attempted to translate his work to the big screen, but to often no avail.
Today's article is about a little TV movie called "Sometimes They Come Back".
Interested in Cult Horror films? This is definitely one of them, alongside the last 'Unsung Heroes' article's "Creepshow".
"Sometimes They Come Back" is based on King's short story by the same name. While the movie deviates from the source material a tiny bit, it still keeps the same story. The film highlights a dark time in one man's life, as he returns to his hometown after growing up. Landing a job as a teacher at the local high-school, he tries to fit in with the crowd, both with the adults and the young people.
Being home hasn't helped much though, since his past keeps coming back to haunt him. Mainly, memories of his older brother's untimely death remind him of just how terrible his childhood was. He can't let that stop him though, since he must take care of his wife and only son. When familiar trouble starts happening again, the man can't help but to believe that history may be repeating itself.
This movie is actually a pretty good one. I highly recommend giving it a watch. It's available on Netflix instant streaming as well, so you have no excuse! It spawned two sequels as well, so it must not have been that bad.
Until next time readers...
