We were previously told that Zack Snyder's next film after Justice League would be a zombie film titled Army of the Dead for Netflix and thanks to Production Weekly, we now have the first official synopsis.

“The adventure is set amid a zombie outbreak in Las Vegas, during which a man assembles a group of mercenaries to take the ultimate gamble, venturing into the quarantined zone to pull off the greatest heist ever attempted.”

That's a big change from the original script, which was reportedly going to focus on male zombies raping human females and the twisted offspring that resulted. That was the version of the film slated to be made back in 2008 by The Thing remake helmer Matthijs van Heijningen Jr.

In a press release during the film's announcement, Snyder stated, "There are no handcuffs on me at all with this one. I thought this was a good palate cleanser to really dig in with both hands and make something fun and epic and crazy and bonkers in the best possible way."

Filming for Army of the Dead reportedly kicks off July 15 in New Mexico. Though unconfirmed, Dave Bautista (GOTG, Dune) recently suggested that he'd been cast.

How is it high stakes if shiny rocks and currency would have zero value during a zombie apocalypse?

Dawn of the Dead (2004) is one of the best zombie films of all time. I wish he would do another sequel set within that world. When I first saw it I was terrified of the idea that if zombies were real and they were as ferocious as how Snyder depicted them, then we as humans were doomed.

@UrbanTheEmcee - Yes it was. 28 Days Later was another phenomenal zombie film. We get some gems from time to time and in 2004 Dawn of the Dead was one of them.

@SonOfAGif - Train to Busan is the best one in my opinion, but Dawn of the Dead 2004 and 28 Days Later are probably top 5. I also really like the Quarantine films.
