Artist/Writer Alex Ross known for his incredible paintings has worked with both Marvel and DC in the past to create some incredible comic book covers, and posters. If you were not aware Ross is also the artist behind the DVD/Blu-ray cover for Marvel’s animated movie Planet Hulk. If you own this movie you have seen his work many times. Supervising director on Planet Hulk Frank Paur has shared Three of Ross’s original sketches including the one that was chosen for the final piece.  Along with the art Paur provided this statement.

"Anything that Alex Ross does is Awesome, but it takes on another level when he does it on a project that you're associated with. I'm cleaning up my files I came across these concept sketches for the cover art to my Planet Hulk animated movie I did for Marvel / Lionsgate a few years back. I forgot about them until recently. If you're like me, you love how things are created and the process that leads to the final art. Here are 3 concepts that he pitched with the one that made it to the final cut with just a minimal change. Enjoy."

I’m personally a big fan of Alex Ross. One of his posters hangs to the right of me as I type this article. So I always look forward to seeing his work. Combine that with a great story like Planet Hulk and you have a hell of a pairing. What do you guys think? have you seen Planet Hulk? Share your thoughts in the usual place.

@Jollem perhaps Marvel hasn't been able to crack a good screenplay for a character who does most of the fighting in his head? That's hard to translate to film. If Marvel wasn't confident in the screenplay, or any movie studio even, why would they sink millions of dollars into it? If they were to do that, THEN you might have a point that they were mainly interested in turning a profit. But even with Marvel's misfires they've still shown they can produce quality stuff without sacrificing anything for a quick buck.

"These are all great, Alex, but can you make it a little more boring? And less indicative of what actually happens in the movie."

One of the worst animated films ive ever seen from one of the laziest (popular) stories that Marvel has.

But I do love me some Ross art
