Revisiting Ang Lee's Hulk

Revisiting Ang Lee's Hulk

Its been 12 years since it came out...does it really still deserve the hate?

I remember when I first saw Ang Lee's Hulk all those many years ago. I was a young kid hoping to see Hulk smash everything to bits. But what I got was a two and a half long character study with more talking than smashing. I was severely disappointed, and so were millions of audience members. Hulk (2003) has been regarded by many as one of the worst comicbook movies ever made. But now, after we've seen two more actors portray Marvel's beloved green monster, can we ask ourselves, "is it really?"  Here are my thoughts:

Despite a few cheesy moments and some dull patches, Ang Lee's Hulk is an impressive, gutsy move. Its not great, but its a polarizing and smart character piece.

Its a movie worth revisiting.

Have you revisited Ang Lee's Hulk recently?
Have your thoughts changed or stayed the same?

I have trouble finding any positives in this movie, I absolutely hate it and it is up there with IM3 and Spider-Man 3 as my least favorite Iron Man movies

Worth revisiting? It took me 5-6 viewings to get through it the first time. It is horrible, tied with Superman IV for worst CBM of all time (yes, it is worse than Batman and Robin. At least I can get some enjoyment out of Batman and Robin.) So no, it's not worth revisiting. At least not unless I'm having problems with insomnia.

@sonofsamadams, you need some apostrophes for clarity.

I've watched it a couple of times since the theater opening.

The Good: Hulk smashing everything. Particularly, his smashing the tanks was great.
His initial size was great.
The I guess it's okay: the use of comic book framing. I think it makes it too much of a CBM.
Sam Elliott & Jennifer Connelly. Their performances were okay. She was a little cold.
The bad:
Eric Bana looks constipated when he's angry.
Nick Nolte's character went from Absorbing Man to Zzaxx and didn't get more interesting.
The Gamma Dogs!
Hulk's size changing. Where did that come from! It makes less sense than the succeeding versions being able to keep pants on.
The story in general is subpar. It wasn't interesting, had little flow, and you waited half the movie to see him change.

Its still the best Hulk movie to date, even with the flaws it certainly has.

I loved it when it first came out. It hasn't held up over time so much. Bana was great.
