Why PLANET HULK could work and be brilliant

How to make Planet HULK work without sacrificing Mark Ruffalo's Banner...

So this is the first article I've decided to do on here and I chose this subject because, well, to be honest I'm tired of reading how "Planet HULK" wouldn't work, couldn't work and shouldn't be made.

I'll start off by addressing the most recent thing I read which was from Kevin Feige and which was ultimately the reason I decided to actually write this. According to Kevin the big reason why they don't like the concept of doing Planet HULK is because they want to explore Mark Ruffalo's Bruce Banner more in the MCU and obviously Bruce isn't actually in the "Planet HULK" book.

The problem with this is the MCU isn't true to the books anyway, "Winter Soldier" won't be a direct to film version of Ed Brubaker's book, Iron Man 3 certainly wasn't a true direct to film version of "Extremis" so why would they assume "Planet HULK" can't be adapted to suit the MCU and explore Banner further in a similar fashion.

Here's my pitch and I'll not only state that it would work perfectly but it would also open up possibilities to still later on down the line make arguably the greatest action film of all time "World War HULK"

This is how I believe it would work by tweaking the book to fit the MCU...

During the course of these alien incursions maybe in Avengers 2, Banner is exposed to some form of E.T radiation now deposited in Earth's atmosphere that reacts negatively to the high concentrations of Gamma in his blood and blocks him from reverting back from the HULK into Bruce. HULK is then seen as too great a threat by the council from Avengers and is (without the knowledge of The Avengers) cast into space. HULK crash lands on the alien planet furious and is tossed into the Gladiator arena, carnage ensues. Later in the cell HULK is locked in now away from the radiation in Earths atmosphere he reverts back into Bruce as he sleeps, Bruce then awakens in the cell, on an alien world, with no idea how he got there or whats going on (infinite comedy potential).

The story is then two fold, you have Ruffalo's Banner displaying his genius and working on a way to get home whilst in the cell at night and the HULK doing his thing during the day in the gladiator arena.

It now becomes a story about exploring the complex relationship between Banner and HULK and forcing them into a situation by were they have to work together to achieve their mutual goal.

We've never really got to see Banner's brilliance in the cinema and by dumping him on an alien world with no idea how he got there we provide an opportunity to see his mind shine along with epic HULK scenes in a gladiator arena. Planet HULK could easily be spread over 2 magnificent films.

You then have the option of Banner succeeding in creating a means of returning to Earth unaware of why he was exiled in the first place and upon arriving back on Earth is re-exposed to the radiation and thus an extremely angry HULK arrives instead to start "World War HULK"

PITCH 2

HULK is tossed into a wormhole by THANOS and lands on "PLANET HULK" unconscious gets captured and Banner awakens in a cell motivated by the desperate need to get home and help save his friends and planet from Thanos and is forced to work together with HULK to get free and back to Earth, HULK's motivation being his anger and desire to smash Thanos.

Again we get to explore the complex relationship between Banner and HULK, we get to see Banner's genius at work under pressure and we get to see HULK tossed into an alien gladiator arena. WIN, WIN and WIN...

Never understood why people think that Planet Hulk can't work on film, maybe it has too do with the hate for Latino Review. They can easily incorporate Banner in the film and have him hulk out when the need is there. They can even fit in lesser known cosmic heroes/villains in the movie.

I wouldn't mind a Planet Hulk movie. Tbh, I just want a Hulk movie. They need to be some on earth so he can face the Leader before doing Planet Hulk. And please don't let him be in Avengers 3!

Kevin is full of crap. When Norton wanted banner's character pushed in some way, you sacked him.

Hulk will have his chance in Planet Hulk and very likely Ruffalo will be all hulk throughout the whole movie in his CGI suit, but with that said it very likely will not be in The Incredible Hulk 2.

Kevin Feige believes that PH & WWH will be very cool movies to make with Rufflo signed on as our favorite Green behemoth.

First and foremost, bring on the Leader, bring on Gamma World, and yes,..bring on the Red Hulk.

-Incredible Hulk 2 (2016)
-Planet Hulk (2018)
-World War Hulk (2019)

Hulk is strongest hero there is!

I like it, but that almost defeats the purpose of WW Hulk. He comes back to earth to get revenge on the Illuminati killing his planet, but most importantly his wife. If he changes into Bruce every night then that would kinda defeat the relationship. If he doesn't marry her there's not as much of a reason for him to get revenge on the Illuminati.

Planet hulk will have no Bruce Banner though (well, maybe in the beginning and end for a scene or two)...

I'd like to see the Leader and maybe the Abomination return, and maybe see the gray Hulk, and Planet Hulk be the third movie.

Second pitch is most likely.

I still want a Planet hulk movie. Like you said stretch it over two films. You dont have to skimp on banner, treat it like you would if he was back on earth. He would be banner until he felt threatened. It would be a great hustle for a slave trader, "hey I bet this puny human can beat your big ugly monster" He would have an alien world smash without the consenquence. You could let him smash as many alien heads as you can afford. That is if they bleed green or purple. You can play up the whole, "on this planet, hulk is more normal than banner," thing.

It's a way to take the hulk out of an avengers movie. Giving space to the rotating members. Avengers is going to need to thin the ranks eventually. Its a good way to add some drama to avengers 2, without killing some one.

I'm totally for a Plant Hulk film. Tho they set things for the Leader after the events of Incredible Hulk. If there ever were another solo Hulk film, i'd love to a Planet Hulk adaptation.....getting kind of tired of Banner on the run/Hulk vs the military at this point

I think this is an awesome idea. I was reading it and could see it all happen in my head. I never read Planet Hulk, so I never had any opinions about the movie rumours, but this could be done.

The Leader first. Also, If I had to judge by anything, it would be the animated movie cause I have yet to read the comic. But, if I had to judge by the animated movie, there is no way in hell I'd pay good money to see Planet Hulk.

planet hulk wouldbe terrible! why do you guys like seeing all cgi movies made to look like live action?

youre taking the human element out of film and there fore taking any sense of realism, which is the reason people tend to see movies or react to them.

if you want planet hulk, there is the comic, which is great, and the great adaptaion animated film.

and now you all want to see it again with cgi?

why do you want to see this thing overdone? why is the majority of movie goers just accepting the overuse of cgi when every actor has basicallyh said it takes away from there performance acting with a tennis ball.

so you geeks are down for just comepletely emotionless performances?

Norton wanted too much creative control in the film. He rewrote The Incredible Hulk and wanted to rewrite Avengers. He made a rookie move, he tried to get the studio to let him rewrite shit in a movie they owned. Not him.

Also Wally Mellon has a point. Movies like Avatar Might as well have had CGI Humans while they were at it. If it has so much CGI in it that basically only 1 or two human characters are gonna be in it, might as well make it a high budget CGI Cartoon. I honestly didnt think the CGI in Avatar was that impressive. it got kinda boring aftera while because it relied to heavily on CGI and dealt very little in terms of plot and character. i fell asleep the first time i watched it.

I could never see Norton as Hulk, he was too well known an Actor. Ruffalo is more indie and isnt in much. All i saw in IH was Norton acting like a scientist. I saw Bruce Banner in Avengers.

I want another Hulk movie, but not Planet Hulk. We need to see the leader give him hell first. And no to Rulk, I frickin hate Rulk. This isnt saying a planet/WW hulk movie cant work, but right now I dont see any purpose in trying to adapt that storyline.
