Has Iron Man 2 Viral Campaign Revealed An Avengers Easter Egg?

The AccuTech logo looks very familiar.

Have we seen the first easter egg for the Avengers logo? Part of the viral marketing for Iron Man 2 is a site showing off the latest innovations of AccuTech. In the AccuTech press release video, Bleeding Cool grabbed a screenshot.

Could AccuTech be the home for some of The Avengers tech and weaponry? The logo similarities seem too close for them not to be intentional. AccuTech has always been a subsidiary company of Stark Industries in the comics but I could not find any affiliation to the Avengers. The AccuTech page from StarkExpo is listed below.

I don't think so...I think it's just a happy coincidence. That's like saying, if AIM showed up, it's an easter egg for the Avengers because they both start with "A"...True, Avengers tech is from Stark International and whatever subsidiary companies he uses (like Batman uses Wayne Enterprises to funnel money for all his toys) but I think Accutech is just either a nod to the comics themselves, or the introduction of another company to give the impression of depth to the universe...(Hammer Industries, Stane, Senator Stern, the Ten Rings, etc.)

Could be! That was actually one of my first thoughts.

"That's like saying, if AIM showed up, it's an easter egg for the Avengers because they both start with "A"..."

I don't agree with that at all :) the "A" in this is slanted and surrounded by a circle. it looks VERY similar to the Avengers logo.

AIM doesn't have an "A" in a circle for a logo. so you can't say the same for them. remember, no one is saying its because the name starts with an "A". they're saying this because the logo looks almost exactly like the Avengers logo. :)

They're a little too close to not at least be a little nod.

huh?? how is it a rip off?? lol. its a viral add for the movie. are they ripping off their own movie? lol

DogsofWar----That Easter Egg of the Avengers is like a slap in the face. You just can't miss it. Also, If that isn't the Avengers Logo, then that is the worst "Laid" Easter egg of all time.

im guessing the company will make caps suit...and put the logo on2 it...and at sum point he will say that he wants it 2 stand 4 avengers...

But did you notice Cordco (Firearm) and Fujikawa (Stark-Fujikawa from the 2099 Universe)? THOSE are Easter Eggs...and Ghost WAS hired by ROXXON originally to destroy Accutech...so Accutech in itself is an Easter egg opening the door to Roxxon...

I'm sure it's just a nod to the Avengers. Don't think it's giving away in anything important, but the A is very smiliar so they probably threw that in to get people excited for the Avengers.

Could be a "Dummy Corporation" funded by Stark for the Avenger Initiative.

Why, because the "A" is slanted?....Maybe.

xmutantx@ i think you nailed it.

not that cap will, in essance, name the avengers because Fury already said as much. but as far as the logos being on the suit - i think you called it. it would look good.
Hawksblueyes
Hawksblueyes - 4/8/2010, 10:07 AM
I don't think it has anything to do with The Avengers. If you look at The A in the symbol it is shaped exactly like the A in AccuTech. It's just the symbol for AccuTech, nothing more.

I don't get why people are saying it's not likely. The A is an intregal part to tie in The Avengers and Captain America.

Sorry gang, but that's the name and logo for a company that featured prominently in the Armor Wars storyline. Accutech was the Stark Enterprises subsidiary that Abe Zimmer worked for. Abe, along with Scott Lang (as Ant-Man) were the ones who hacked into Justin Hammer's networks and retrieved the information that he had possession of the stolen Stark tech sold to him by Spymaster. Considering this story is (as far as I've heard) about stolen intellectual properties, and additional armor suits being out there, the connection makes sense.

Regarding DemonHunter's post...Just as I alluded to in my second post above...it's the video itself that's the easter egg...not the "A"...it looks like they're gearing up to reveal all the companies involved...Stark, Hammer, Accutech, Roxxon, Cordco, Fujikawa..they're just establishing the "Stark" universe which figures into the Avengers universe by default...

yeah in fact i think they tried to make them different on purpose.. i think THE REAL EASTER EGGS come from the Stark EXPO letter from Tony.. (the 1941 reference, etc)
jjmeylar
jjmeylar - 4/8/2010, 11:32 AM
@DemonHunter: If that's the case, then I wouldn't be surprised to see a short appearance by Spymaster. I mean, he's worked for Justin quite a bit throughout comic history. Also, maybe they're setting up for a third "Iron Man" film that could be mainly an Armor Wars thing((though this film seems to be doing that, on it's own)).
JoshWilding
JoshWilding - 4/8/2010, 11:46 AM
I havent been able to watch the video as I'm stuck using the library for the next few days until I get my laptop fixed but I'd say that the similarity was an easter egg to fans who would notice but probably nothing to do with The Avengers movie! Either way, great find DOGS! :)
Faust1973
Faust1973 - 4/8/2010, 11:50 AM
...it reminds me of the scene in X-Men 2 where Mystique broke into Stryker's headquarters to find out where Magneto was being held...she pulls up the specs of the plastic prison, but on other screens and file folders are names of mutants and "programs" that figured prominently in the comics...

ManOfIron
ManOfIron - 4/8/2010, 12:23 PM
hmm... i think you may be reaching... but i think there is an easter egg though :)

Is it kinda odd that they would include a SOLDIER and a SCIENTIST into the clip? Cap and Hulk? idk if Thor is supposed to be a scientist like i had heard somewhere, but i find that too coinsidental. any thoughts?
CROVL
CROVL - 4/8/2010, 12:48 PM
Actually, I was thinking that Accutech has a pre-WWII history, and probably designed the body armor for Captain America, the "A" would serve a dual purpose. Either way, awesome viral marketing!...

There's definitely something going on. This is just the first of the viral campaign and already there is one proven nod to the Hulk, and with this possible nod to the Avenger's, I wouldn't be surprised if we see something very soon that involves Thor or Cap, even though it may be minor.
