A casting call has been posted for the Iron Man 2 movie and it may reveal new enemies and/or love interests for ol' shellhead in the sequel.

We've been told that the lead villain for Iron Man 2 is "The Mandarin" --an Asian villain who controls the elements with a complete set of magic rings. But that doesn't mean they won't have a multi-villain cast, or at least be setting up Iron Man 3's lead villain in Iron Man 2.

One of the casting descriptions below seems to indicate a strong possiblity that they may be including "The Crimson Dynamo" in the Iron Man 2 sequel. And the female lead COULD be The Black Widow? Read the descriptions and take a guess as to who you think they might be.

This casting call was posted at SpoilerTV...

Producers: Marvel, Kevin Feige
Executive Producer: Louis D'Esposito
Executive Producers: David Maisel, Denis Stewart, Stan Lee
Co-Producers: Jeremy Latcham, Victoria Alonso
Associate Producer: Karen Johnson
Director: Jon Favreau
Start Date: April 2009

[MALE LEAD]
30s, Eastern European, brilliant, gritty...

[FEMALE LEAD]

[BRUISER]
Russian, 20s or 30s, at least 6'2", able to perform own stunts, has the build of a MMA fighter...

The sequel hits theaters on May 7, 2010.

I wonder if they're going to go the route of the Mandarin that's depicted in that new Iron Man animated series, "Iron Man: Armored Adventures" where he's in a black armor that is a blend of a Samurai and a Knight of fantasy. I think they should also make the rings alien in nature rather than magic.

Whomever they get for Black Window, needs to know how to sell hot and business at the same time. Very few attractive actresses can do both and be able to sell it.

Come to think of it, Natassia Malthe would be a kick-ass Black Widow.

Yea, i'm out as well. But it's got to be Black Widow.
The rings ARE Alien in nature, not magical. Whether they depict that or not is a different story.

OH BUT WAIT!!! Jean Grey's dead right!!!! How'bout FAMKE JANSSEN?!?!?!?!!? We all remember how BLISTERING HOT she was in GoldenEye as that crazy "Russian" operative right?!?! Oh come ON!!! Don't one of you guys try and say you don't remember!!! She knows how to play russian! What do you guys think???

TMI Shaman...
You guys might be forgetting the possibility of Titanium Man as well ("Russian Bruiser"). And I hate to burst your collective bubbles, but I don't think you're going to see too much of the Mandarin in this one either, I keep hearing that they're going to make him a "shadow villian", in the background until the third film.

On my short list for Black Widow:
Ivana Milicevic
Milla Jovovich
and yes, I do love me some Famke.

jordomac - 11/26/2008, 1:40 PM
Famke Jansen would have been perfect for Black Widow but they already used her as Jean Grey, although I wouldn't complain. They had Rebecca Romjin in punisher and x men. so yeah. My vote is Famke Jansen for Black Widow
GUNSMITH
GUNSMITH - 11/26/2008, 2:35 PM
HANDS DOWN THE BLACK WIDOW SHOULD BE PLAYED BY MILLA JOVANANICH..MILLA'S SEXY, FIT, CAN FIGHT, CAN HAVE A RUSSIAN ACCENT,,,,CRIMSON DYNAMO WOULD BE COOL TOO SEE, ARMOR VS ARMOR IS A COOL CONCEPT. I THOUGHT ABOUT THE MANDARIN, I PERSONALLY LIKE THE TECH BATTLE,....JUMPING INTO MAGIC RINGS SEEMS LIKE A HUGE JUMP IN A TOTALLY DIFFERENT DIRECTION..DONT GET ME WRONG, MANDARIN IS COOL, BUT ID LIKE TO SEE CONFLICT WITH THE TECH, MAYE GO INTO A ARMOR WARS THING, STARK IS EXPOSED, PEOPLE KNOW HE HAS THE TECH, SPIES,BETRAYAL,PEOPLE USING TECHNOLOGY HE CREATED TO HELP HUMANITY..ITS LIKE THE FIRST ONLY ON AN ESCALATED LEVEL..
GUNSMITH

I hate to disagree but Famke Jansen looks old now.. she actually looked too much older than cyclops in the Xmen movies from the start to me and she was visibly taller than he was. I guess I'm just not a fan of her.. I think Black Widow I think attraction with a deadly russian accent.. Famke just isn't sexy to me.. I think they can find better.. like Christina Hendricks she's hot.. and a natural red head.. and she doesn't look 40 either.. She's great on MAD MEN as well great show!
guys you ahve to check her out..

She's it!

I like the techno adversary as oppose to a mystical villian for the ironman series.

Shaman - 11/26/2008, 3:06 PM
Okay, she's tall she's old, what, am I the only bloke here that loves tall experienced women that can take hold of you and ride towards the sunset... yeah okay.

Well then how'bout Rachelle Lefevre in Twilight? She's a fan favorite and not to mention a natural red head. Very HOOOOOOOTTT!
Shaman
Shaman - 11/26/2008, 3:11 PM
Yeah but but... the techno adversary's been done in the first one... can't we move on to mysticism? Plus is it just me or is it kinda boring for everybody now to come outa the wood work with a freakin armor. I mean okay, let's have ONE armor war...not stretch it out to 3 movies. It's like a "been there done that" overload for the first time but stretched out to be even longer... Imagine if all of Batman's enemies all had an armor, gadgets and a wierd car... get the drift?
ScorpioEagle1
ScorpioEagle1 - 11/26/2008, 3:31 PM
o.k. o.k. I'll conceded Rachelle Lefevre in the looks category but I have not seen much of her acting. As for the Ironman franchise I defintely don't want to see someone else with a iron man suit other than war machine let's get creative here.. don't go down the superman road every intallment has Kryptonite featured prominently in it.. find something else.. there are plenty of ways to stop iron man that have nothing to do with mysticism or a guy knocking off his armour. although I must agree I think the mysticism is the way to go.. that's great TOny all about Technology fighting a foe that defy's all his MIT teachings and having to come up with a way to win?? Come on it's great..

Shaman - TMI = Too Much Information
Famke Jansen IS hot, but already Jean Grey. Not going to happen.
Christina Hendricks - Good choice, Mad Men is an awesome series.
Rachelle Lafevre - Looks a little too much like Carrot Top. Sorry, she's kind of hot, but leaves quite a bit to be desired, plus i'm not familiar with any of her work. But I did state, they should choose people based on whether they can become the part, not just act it, or get the part because they are "A-List" actors.

To make my point loud and clear, THE RINGS ARE NOT MYSTICAL IN ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM. THEY ARE MAKLUAN TECHNOLOGY THAT PROPELLED THE SHIP FIN FANG FOOM AND COMPANY CRASHED ON EARTH. So, it's Human Tech VS. Alien Tech. Still a tech battle. Now they could make the rings mystical, which I dig because Mystical VS Technological is ALWAYS a good battle.

Natassia Malthe, Also super-hottie, BUT, played Typhoid in Elektra...
DrFever
DrFever - 11/26/2008, 4:45 PM
Elektra, if a trees falls in the woods does it make a sound. If no one cares about your movie did you play a role in it?

Anyway...BLACK WIDOW? I'll go ahead and guess this as a roll to have more SHIELD people without paying Sammy L over and over and over. Plus let's face it. Her superpower (having a vagina) is better then Fury's eyepatch.

IonParallax
IonParallax - 11/26/2008, 4:57 PM
Very excellent point "DrFever". So by that rationale, since Daredevil was for all intents and purposes, shyte, can Michael Clark Duncan still play Apocalypse...If and when they get around to it?
DrFever
DrFever - 11/26/2008, 5:04 PM
But people HATE Daredevil. They at least know it's there. Face it...common movie fan doesn't even know what Elektra is or care.

Daredevil open - $45,033,454
Elektra open - $12,804,793

I fall in the middle on Daredevil. I don't love it, I don't hate it, it's just there.

It's refreshing to hear someone else quoting the science vs magic element of the Mandarin! Kudos to you, IonParallax for being so well versed!
Anyone hear anymore news on the Frank Miller's Daredevil venture that was supposedly in the works?
Last I heard, they were rumoring Jason Stathom as a replacement for Badflick, or Affleck I mean...

Kate Beckinsale for Black widow, and Dougery scott as Crimson Dynamo
Shaman
Shaman - 11/27/2008, 8:00 AM
Well... i've been thinking about this over and over in my head...yes, i have one. Black Widow in my opinion, shouldn't be this 20 year old cutie! Shit, even Pepper Potts was at least 30. BW should be a beautifull mature and experienced woman. At some point in the movie she'll have to put TONY back in his place by saying that "she was managing OPS when he was losing his virginity" kinda thing. So i see your "Natassia Malthe" and your "Kate Beckinsale" and i raise you all a "Angie Everheart".

And DR. Fever, you do raise a good point, well first off, Nick Fury is too important to be the "hands on" leader of the avengers or even to baby sit TONY in Ironman2. That's Black Widow's job.

As for Elektra... is that a french documentary on their electoral process or somethin'? I just don't recall exactly what it is...

As for Daredevil, if they are to make a "Frank Millar reboot", that would cancel Duncan's role as the King Pin and evidently make him the #1 contender for the role of Apocalypse! But Duncan, don't screw this one up...noooooo, Apocalypse doesn't smile 24/7... nor does Wilson Fisk... get the point?

And Jason Statham can't pull off Daredevil. He tottally sucks when an ounce of romance is involved ("in the name of the king" ring any bells?) ,so... Hawkeye YES, GhostRider mabe, but Daredevil should be Clive Owen as Roar and Ion said.

And i totally dig the mysticism vs. techno MIT!!! It could even be a cool tie-in for Doctor Strange! But since Mandarin's rings aren't magical, i'd rather have them follow the pure origins of the character then make it different for the movie. As for a mystical opponent... i dunno, how'bout Dormamu or the Scarlet Witch (she has played both sides of the fence right?). I just hope they find someone that won't massacre the movie by badly playing the evil mystical character like Ray Liotta in "In the name of the King" or Jeremy Irons in "Dungeons & Dragons"! Like WTF!!!
Vex
Vex - 11/27/2008, 10:17 AM
Angie Everhart, nice to look at, but she has a husky voice like she drinks too much hard liquor and is pushing 40. They could easily have an early to mid 30's actress, like Natassia Malthe (who is severely underrated and needs better projects) that has seen a lot of action in a short time. Also, they've done that "I've been doing this longer than you" type of line in X2 between Stryker and Kelly(Mystique).
Milla Jovovich, sorry to say, is predictable casting in my opinion and frankly, I'm kind of tired of seeing her in the action role. With films like "Ultra Violet", "Resident Evil", "Resident Evil:Apocalypse", "Resident Evil:Extinction" and "Fifth Element" it's too safe of a choice and ultimately too boring to watch.

I'd agree Jason Statham as Matt Murdock may be a stretch, however, I wouldn't bank on his ability to do romance solely based on an Uwe Boll film. Uwe makes everyone on board hate the work.

For the rings, I know the lore, however, I would save the mysticism for the "Thor" movie. An alien tech vs. human tech would work well because it not only can push Tony to his limits trying to "out-invent" a superior technological race's equipment but also open the world up to the idea of alien invasions. Which then can open doors to the idea of other alien races existing to take on Earth... only to have The Avengers stand in their way.

Michael Clarke Duncan could still do Apocalypse even if he was Kingpin in Daredevil. If they do it right, using prosthetic make-up would alter his appearance enough. Also, I don't think his portrayal of Kingpin was wholly accepted enough for people to care if he jumped from DD to X-Men mainly because it wasn't a defining role for him. They would be hard press to sell actors in defining roles like Hugh Jackman sheathing the claws to be Doctor Strange or Christian Bale hanging up the cape and cowl to be Green Arrow. No one is going to go for it %100. But a poor Kingpin to a possibly awesome Apocalypse? I think people would push for it regardless if he was already in a different Marvel adaptation.

...so says The Leader.

Possibilities for Black Widow:

Angie Everhart
Alyson Hannigan (I know it's a long shot)
Alicia Witt
Christina Hendricks (from Madmen- VERY GOOD CHOICE. This is probably my favorite choice)
Laura Prepon (just try to get past the whole 70s show thing - she's hot)
Amy Adams (I know she's all sweet and innocent looking, but she could do it.)
Kiera Knightly (She could pull of the Russian thing)
Shaman
Shaman - 11/27/2008, 11:22 AM
Honestly... i guess that none of the choice that were posted fit the bill...execpt...you got me SOLD HANDS DOWN on this one... KIERA KNIGHTLY. You are so RIGHT with this one Warpath, you just hit me where it hurts while i wasn't looking! I never thought about her and to me she's perfect.

If not her than...mabe Charlize Theron. Ooh ooh wait... how'bout RHONA MITRA!!!!

I'd kind of rather have Black Widow and Hawkeye both appear in the Nick Fury movie after The Avengers.
It would show Nick as an agent and introduce these to similar to their Ultimate intro setting them up for The Avengers 2.

As for Crimson Dinamo, that might be a good villain for the second one. And I heard that the Mandarin would be intorduced in this one while being built up for the 3rd.
Shaman
Shaman - 11/27/2008, 12:20 PM
Eeehhh... A Nick Fury movie? I'm i the only one that thinks this will suck? It's gonna look like Shaft 2. He's not important enough to have his own movie... But hey the execs are dumb asses so he might just get it.

If they're not putting the mandarin in this one or just in the back ground, i just hope they're not gonna throw an "S" here and give him the "Dr.Claw from inspector gadget" look, showing just his green hand with all the rings, laying on the side of his lazyboy. But i have faith in Jon Favreau.

I get your drift Roar, be that as it may, hollywood is not without it's fair share of em... ahem...alteration specialists.

And we all know that Charlize can play an operative role as we all saw her in AEON FLUX! Okay, that movie sucked but not CHARLIZE! She'd be a great Black Widow!!!

I hope they find an unknown to play the black widow. all these known actors would call for a bigger pay check and less of a budget for the rest of the movie. All I want is a good story, and decent actors.
