Jon Favreau Dishes out even More Iron Man Tidbits

ET has added more to what Favs had to say to them a couple days ago on the red carpet.

"Favs says he is a big fan of Mickey Rourke and said, "Sin City was when he got on the geek map. The Comic-Con crowd knew about his rebirth back from Robert Rodriguez' film."

Favs also talked about the rehearsals that started this week as well, "I'm getting the old-timers together again and introducing them to new cast members. We're gonna shake the Sherlock outta junior! I'm a little nervous because the first one set a high bar but we have put our all into this so far."

Finally, Favreau admitted that the script wasn't complete yet (seriously? better get going on that one!) but says, "we have a rough basic outline [that is] always evolving as we bring in actors and have rehearsals. I like to adjust it for the specific actors but the action sequences are very far along."

Fav's is absolutely correct regarding Rourke, if it wasnt for Sin City then Rourke would be just another stunt double for Dog the Bounty Hunter. Its nice to hear that the director of any film is spending time prepping and getting the actors mentally prepared for there upcomming role's.

i love the "Shake the Sherlock out of Jr." thing! lol that's good ol' Favs. He's a great director and surprisingly a very good and funny actor, as well. I'm really looking forward to Cheatle and Jr.'s chemistry. I wish Howard would have stayed but he got a big head and that's what happens. I think Don's serious attitude will play off nicely against Jr.'s sarcasm/wit. Nervous about Rourke though. I hope he does well and doesn't think that since this is a comicbook movie that he can take it less seriously. I wish i knew more about the character he's playing. I never read the comics enough to meet his character. and i guess i'll leave by saying something that's my favorite part of the Stark story... BYOB!! woot lol he knows about addiction so i think he will be very believable (not being sarcastic)

I must be one of the only people who is genuinely excited about the fact that Rourke will be involved in this project!? I keep hearing a lot of hesitation, unsurety, and disdain from folks saying that they are not sure about his ability as an actor, or whether he would be right for the role. All I have to say is, you DEFINITELY haven't seen his body of work! This guy is an amazing actor, and I have complete faith that he will pull off his role with perfection. If you're still hesitant, go check out the Wrestler... You will not be dissappointed!

Y'know, I can understand some of the apprehension about Rourke...he is a great actor, but he's primarily been in 'films', not what used to be considered throwaway kids movies aka comic book movies. But look at Tobey Maguire in Cider House Rules, Edward Norton in anything at all Affleck...ok well affleck's a bad example. But you see the point.

The point is to those who have apprehension, comic book movies as we all know are huge huge money makers and ACTUAL actors are showing a lot of interest in these Roles. Kenneth Brannagh for Crissakes...a shakespearean, helming Thor. I think Rourke will throw himself into whatever role he's cast in, as will any actor worth damn.

No worries fellow fanboys.
