Actor John Slattery may not be a household name yet, but he's definitely on his way to becoming one, thanks to notable roles in Flags of Our Fathers, Charlie Wilson's War and, most recently, the Emmy-winning hit drama Mad Men. Come next summer, comic book movie fans will come to know his name, as well, as Slattery will portray Howard Stark, father to Tony Stark, AKA Iron Man (played by Robert Downey, Jr.) in Iron Man 2.
In a recent interview about working with his
Mad Men co-star and real-life wife,
Talia Balsam, Slattery was asked for an update on his
Iron Man 2 shoot and said:
"As far as I know, they’re finished and I don’t know where it is right now. I saw [director] Jon Favreau recently and he couldn’t be a better person to work with. That is a huge operation – he acted as though we had all the time in the world to shoot what we had to shoot, so he was very supportive and I’d work with the guy any time."
When asked if it was different filming a movie like
Iron Man 2 as opposed to a show like
Mad Men because of the amoutn of special effects involved, Slattery said:
"There are a lot of special effects, there’s a green screen behind me and they’re showing some picture out a window, but in this particular example, no. You’re doing things that have a simple reality in whatever I’m doing in both instances...there really isn’t that much difference."
Iron Man 2 blasts into theaters May 7, 2010!
