"Tony Stark's Dad" Discusses Iron Man 2

Actor John Slattery may not be a household name yet, but he's definitely on his way to becoming one, thanks to notable roles in Flags of Our Fathers, Charlie Wilson's War and, most recently, the Emmy-winning hit drama Mad Men. Come next summer, comic book movie fans will come to know his name, as well, as Slattery will portray Howard Stark, father to Tony Stark, AKA Iron Man (played by Robert Downey, Jr.) in Iron Man 2.

In a recent interview about working with his Mad Men co-star and real-life wife, Talia Balsam, Slattery was asked for an update on his Iron Man 2 shoot and said:

"As far as I know, they’re finished and I don’t know where it is right now. I saw [director] Jon Favreau recently and he couldn’t be a better person to work with. That is a huge operation – he acted as though we had all the time in the world to shoot what we had to shoot, so he was very supportive and I’d work with the guy any time."

When asked if it was different filming a movie like Iron Man 2 as opposed to a show like Mad Men because of the amoutn of special effects involved, Slattery said:

"There are a lot of special effects, there’s a green screen behind me and they’re showing some picture out a window, but in this particular example, no. You’re doing things that have a simple reality in whatever I’m doing in both instances...there really isn’t that much difference."

Iron Man 2 blasts into theaters May 7, 2010!

I guess they need a flashback scene to show the rise of Stark industries and how it affected Mickey Rourke's character and why he snaps to create Whiplash. May couldn't get here fast enough for me, this movie is gonna smoke.

I cant wait for this movie but I'm getting kind of worried that the movies going to be too crowded...flashbacks, Justin Hammer, War Machine, Black Widow, Whiplash - I hope that Favreau can balance all of these elements well!

Got my copy of Modern Warfare 2 this morning. :)

Sorta makes you wonder....how much of a movie is actually real? He said he was standing in front of a green screen. Damn...CGI is highly advanced. The floors and walls aren't even real.

Iron Man 2 is gonna rock!

@Multi

I'm not surprised that you're not too into video games, you're spending all your free time, creating bad-ass superhero suits! You're like Lucius Fox or something!

@clint

What the hell's a 2690? How much does it cost? lol

MPP: Your not alone my friend. I am not too much into games.
I play WOW occasionally. Maybe like once a week. I also have a PS2, but the only games I have ever played on it is MUA1 & 2.

I spend my time working two jobs, watching movies, reading, writing, and in the gym, and that doesn't leave much else for games.

My mom had back surgery recently and she had disk problems and nerve damage. She had to get rods and pins and a vertibrae removed. That was about a month ago nad she's already back driving and going up stairs.
