Work on Iron Man 2, has officially concluded, as the hype & anticipation continues. Jon Favreau tweeted the news, and now Marvel Studios president, Kevin Fiege talks about the process, and what's next for the crew.

The news comes just four days short of one year exactly since the film officially went into production on April 6, 2009. And over two years since Favreau, Marvel Studios President and Producer Kevin Feige and more began thinking up “Iron Man 2.”

“That’s the best feeling,” Feige said, “When something that starts with a blank page, and a big blank dry-erase board in the old Marvel conference room two years ago has now turned into this finished product that is being print mastered and all the release prints are being done as we speak. It’s a pretty proud feeling.”

When last we left off, in the final scene of the 2008 blockbuster “Iron Man,” Tony Stark announced to the world that he is, indeed, Iron Man. This, of course, created a spectacular ending, but also made for significant challenges for the filmmakers when conceiving “Iron Man 2.”

“Where do you pick up the next movie?” Feige said, thinking back on so many of the questions that came up early on for Favreau, the film’s star Robert Downey Jr., screenwriter Justin Theroux and co-producer Jeremy Latcham as they all sat in that conference room. “How much time has gone by? Where do we meet with Tony back in his world? Where is he in his life after making this announcement? Where is the world? And that is exactly where we pick up.”

With “Iron Man 2” now in the can, what’s next for everyone involved?

“Today is the first time in two years that Jon Favreau, myself and all of our partners haven’t worked on ‘Iron Man 2,’” Feige explained. “Jon goes home to his family and is going to take a break before going on the big press junket. Robert is going to take a short break before going on the world tour.”

And how about for Feige and everyone at Marvel Studios?

“No rest for the weary,” Feige laughed. “I get on a plane on Sunday night and go back to New Mexico with the ‘Thor’ gang then onto the UK for ‘The First Avenger: Captain America'.”
