Mandarin Hint In Iron Man Movie

So I just got done watching Iron Man again and im very puzzled why they have cast Crimson Dynamo (or Whiplash) for the next iron man villain.

Now everyone would hopefully agree that Iron Man's most notorious villian is Mandarin. So, you would think that naturally the next villian in the sequel would be him--especially since Jon Favreau had already hinted that he would be early on.

Well, it looks like he was setting it up in the first movie, because there is a kinda hidden, I guess you would call it an easter egg, in the original Iron Man movie.

When Tony is sitting down watching tv about the chaos happening in Afganistan, he is messing with half of the iron man hand, and if you listen to the reporter she mentions that the local group of terroists is called the ten rings. She says it like it's on one word so it might just be a easter egg. Or that same terrorist group with a new leader (cough cough MANDARIN cough cough) could come back in the second one and find the TEN RINGS. Now if you already caught this and think that this whole thing was pointless... yea I kinda realize this.

But just comment on if you think this is a easter egg or a possible entrance for Mandarin into the franchise.

See Ya, The ShakeBake

in the first talks for IM2, they were going to use Mandarin, and that dude from the first one who is the leader of the "Ten Rings" is who was going to play him. They decided to use him in the 3rd installment of the trilogy, as release dates for all 3 can be found, which actually made Favreau a bit nervous.

I remember an old interview with Jon Favreau where he was asked about the Mandarin. The whole idea for him was to use the Mandarin as some larger force working behind the scenes. I believe he used the comparison of Sauron in the Lord of the Rings.

Found it.
"Favreau announced the Mandarin as the film's villain at Comic-Con International, When asked about the Mandarin, Favreau compared the Mandarin to Sauron in The Lord of the Rings, in that his role is a presence rather than a physical antagonist."
