A New Image From The Cancelled JUSTICE LEAGUE MORTAL Might Make You Thankful For The 2017 Film

After an image surfaced yesterday featuring D.J. Cotrona as Superman from George Miller's cancelled Justice League: Mortal movie, a new image of the full team has now been shared online. Take a look...

Yesterday, we got our first look at director George Miller's vision for Superman in the cancelled Justice League Mortal film; an image of actor D.J. Cotrona debuted online via DC Films Hub, decked out in a colourful suit as the Man of Steel.

Now, thanks to Collider, we have another look at what could have been; this time, it's the entire Justice League assembled in a low quality shot. It's difficult to tell if the image features the actors who were cast to play the characters (thats definitely not Common as Green Lantern, for instance), but we at least have an idea of how the costumes would have looked in this version.

While the film was ultimately scrapped, it seems Miller and his team would have stuck very close to the comic book looks for each character. However, it's also fair to point out that the film would have released after films such as The Dark Knight and Iron Man, and costumes like these would have certainly looked cheap in comparison. What do you think of the image? Let us know in the usual place!

@ShellHead - I like these costumes better as the colors and costumes are brighter/accurate compared to the current DCEU's all metallic/glossy/rock star colors and costumes. Just as I preferred avengers 1 costumes rather than the newer films.

@mastakilla39 - avenger 1 costumes were horrible and newer films costumes were better an improvement

@zeon00 - @zeon00 - To each their own. I dislike the fact that the newer avenger films have essentially muted all the colors or turned the colors black. Even spider-man and the guardians of the galaxy are not as colorful/bright as the previous films.

Just compare Wasps costume from antman 1 to antmant 2

@mastakilla39 - That’s because they didn’t want a bright golden dick on her chest.

@mastakilla39 - They definitely took a cue from DC Films in terms of look and content over the last couple of years.

@SisterSunday52 - Yep... They said "you know those movies that consistently do worse than us? We should be more like them."

@mastakilla39 - A lot of these costume changes reflect their arcs.

Chris Evans on Cap's state of mind in this movie:

“I think he’s becoming disillusioned as he gets older. Every single movie, he learns a little bit more that the world isn’t the way he kind of wants it to be, and I think that’s why there’s a connection between him and Black Widow. Black Widow has seen a lot more than he has, and is … a little more calloused, and I think in a lot of ways, he looks up to that and learns from that. First it was kind of the hierarchy of a kind of government structure that fell apart, and then there was a friendship that … betrayed him, or abandoned him, I should say. I think when those things happen, it’s like a destruction of a belief system to some degree, and you … can be a little cold as a result. And I think you lean on people that have walked familiar paths and there’s no denying that Black Widow has certainly faced a lot of those challenges."

Widow has always been in black. Now as Steve has become a little more like her, he's gone from bright colors, to duller colors, to black.

...honestly, from that low res PAINTING i don't see how anyone could say that the costumes would look cheap until the actual costume for each is shown.

Costumes are like Alex Ross, looks cheesy in real life but still kinda of cool, and one arm’d Aquaman and Martian manhunter on juice! Wonder Woman is really bad though.

Good costumes can only go so far. George Miller is an actual filmmaker and storyteller. Not just a visual effects artist like Snyder.
Nebula

@InfinitePunches - I think the script is online. All I can remember is that it starts with the funeral for a JL member, you don't know who died, and then it cuts to earlier. I think that's a pretty intriguing opening.

The story hook was its Batman or Flash who has died
DetBullock

@InfinitePunches - George Miller also did Happy Feet, he was in a bit of a slump doing various mercenary work for years before finally getting to make Mad Max Fury Road.
aflynn
aflynn - 3/21/2018, 3:54 PM
@DetBullock - Happy Feet has a cult following now so I will chalk that up to another success for Miller, very quality film maker.
SisterSunday52
SisterSunday52 - 3/21/2018, 8:43 PM
@aflynn - If I remember correctly, Batman killed Maxwell Lord in the end, deliberately. Even in Batman v Superman, he killed indirectly or in self defense, only killing deliberately in the Knightmare sequence, and only because he lost his way, but he seems to be just Batman here, no loss of sense of self or anything.

I don't know, there's just something about the film that makes me glad it didn't get made
LEVITIKUZ
LEVITIKUZ - 3/21/2018, 3:40 PM
This film was going to have Martian Manhunter & John Stewart making it 300% better than the 2017 film

Overall the designs look fine. It’s hard to tell with a low res picture

Wonder Woman looks like Gal’s Wonder Woman but with a cloth skirt

Aquaman looks like BvS Aquaman

Martian Manhunter, Flash, & John Stewart look out of a comic book

Superman & Batman look fine. Hard to tell how well Batman looks with him being all black

Overall, it’s George [frick]ing Miller. We going to doubt the man who delivered Fury Road, the Gibson Mad Max trilogy, Happy Feet, & Babe?
