The Hanna/Barbera-produced 'Super Powers' series entitled "Galactic Guardians" unites Batman, Robin, Wonder Woman, Superman and Firestorm "to defend Earth from the dark New God Darkseid and other forces of evil," according to Kenneth Chisholm on IMDB.
Darkseid recruits Lex Luthor, Joker and Penguin for this 10-episode epic, but the heroes have a new ally as well.
This show marked the first animated appearance of 'Teen Titan' regular Cyborg, a.k.a. Victor Stone, an Olympic-level athlete who suffered a tragic accident and was saved with advanced prosthetics that left him half-man and half-machine. He's voiced in the series by Ernie Hudson ("The Crow").
The voice cast also includes "Transformers" regulars Jack Angel, Frank Welker and Peter Cullen, plus Adam West and Casey Kasem as Batman and Robin.
The 2-disc DVD set hits shelves in time for Halloween '07, and includes all 10 episodes--with titles such as "The Bizarro Super Powers Team" and "The Death of Superman"--and a special featurette entitled "Super Friends Redux: Galactic Guardians."
6 episodes were written by series story editor Alan Burnett, who went on to produce both the Batman and Superman animated series.
