This Remake Of The Animated JUSTICE LEAGUE Theme Might Be Better Than Danny Elfman's

The Justice League score contentious to say the least. Whether you prefer Junkie XL's theme or Danny Elfman's, composer and fan Hirushan Maddumaarachchi may have them both beaten...

My first experience of a Justice League adaptation was Bruce Timm's stellar animated series Justice League on Cartoon Network. Like much of the DC animated output of the time it featured great stories, fantastic animation and evocative music.

The original theme tune for the show was composed by Lolita Ritmanis, and remains to this day one of the most memorable DC themes. Composer and Youtuber Hirushan Maddumaarachchi has released an orchestration of that theme as a tribute to Zack Snyder's live action adaptation and it is glorious.

In his own words "This is a composition I did in anticipation of the Justice League movie. As a kid growing up, the Justice League Animated series was always something I thoroughly enjoyed and the theme song was loved by many, including me. Therefore I decided to take that theme (which you can hear at 00.43 - 01.08) and imagined how it would be if it was used for the actual movie."

For those who aren't familiar with it, here is the original opening for the show.

Hirushan has done a great job here and also made good use of the trailers and DC branding to put together a really inspiring video for the piece.

I think that Hans Zimmer's Man of Steel score is among the best 5 of any superhero film. It beautifully and appropriately evokes all kinds of emotion from the haunting and poignant "Goodbye my son!" to the ominous "You die or I die" and the heroic and stirring "An ideal of Hope!." Despite all of the criticism of Man of Steel (mostly unfair) it should be regarded as having one of the great scores of the genre.
