Justice League: Mortal entered pre-production in 2007 and was set to make use of revolutionay motion-capture technology to bring the iconic superheroes to life on the big screen. However, a series of unfortunate blows to the project meant that it was scrapped by Warner Bros., especially after the success of The Dark Knight led to a refocusing on live-action solo films.
Now, though, some more production art has surfaced which is doing the rounds on Instagram but seemingly hails directly from Weta Workshop, the team who was working on the film way back when.
In the gallery below, we get to take a closer look at heroes like Batman and Superman (including the latter's black suit) along with quite drastic redesigns for characters like Aquaman and The Flash. Barry Allen dons a black outfit rather than the traditional red, while Arthur Curry's creepy appearance makes him look more like The Deep from
The Boys than Aquaman!
On the plus side, there are some comic accurate versions of these characters here but it definitely feels like
Justice League: Mortal would have very much done its own thing with the source material.
