Justice League 2 and 3 are now officially in development at Warner Bros. following the positive response to Zack Snyder's Justice League, which proved to be a big success for the HBO Max streaming service.
Warner Bros. CEO Ann Sarnoff recently appeared to dash any hopes of Snyder being given the opportunity to continue his vision for the iconic DC Comics super-team, but a major hike in HBO Max subscribers and the persistence of the #RestoreTheSnyderVerse campaign made her rethink that decision.
"We simply didn't realize how much of a demand there was for Zack's take on Justice League," said Sarnoff in a statement. "The #RestoreTheSnyderVerse movement showed us the error of our ways, and when his legions of fans proved their passion and dedication by hijacking our #StopAsianHate hashtag, well, we just knew we couldn't ignore them any longer."
Sarnoff went on to confirm that Snyder will direct Justice League 2 and 3 back-to-back, and all upcoming DCEU movies, including Aquaman 2, Shazam: Fury of the Gods, and Wonder Woman 3, will now be considered "Elseworlds" stories, with the "SnyderVerse" establishing itself as the main continuity going forward.
What do you guys make of this shocking development? Are you glad Snyder will get the chance to continue his story? Be sure to share your thoughts in the usual place!
In Zack Snyder's Justice League, determined to ensure Superman’s (Henry Cavill) ultimate sacrifice was not in vain, Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) aligns forces with Diana Prince (Gal Gadot) with plans to recruit a team of metahumans to protect the world from an approaching threat of catastrophic proportions. The task proves more difficult than Bruce imagined, as each of the recruits must face the demons of their own pasts to transcend that which has held them back, allowing them to come together, finally forming an unprecedented league of heroes.
Now united, Batman (Affleck), Wonder Woman (Gadot), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), Cyborg (Ray Fisher) and The Flash (Ezra Miller) may be too late to save the planet from Steppenwolf, DeSaad and Darkseid and their dreadful intentions.
