Warner Bros. Animation has just confirmed that Batman: The Long Halloween, Part Two will be released on July 27 on Digital and August 11 on Blu-ray.
That's great news after yesterday's trailer, while it's been confirmed the movie is going to be rated R for some violence and bloody images. The special features have also been revealed by the studio, and with that comes a surprise, stealth announcement about the next big DC Animated Universe adventure.
Both on Blu-ray and Digital, we'll be getting "A Sneak Peek at the next DC Animated Movie – An advanced look at Injustice." Yes, Warner Bros. Animation really is planning to adapt that hit video game series into an animated feature, and that's exciting on a number of levels.
In Injustice, Batman and Superman go to war, and the DC Universe as we know it is torn down the middle. The Man of Steel's descent into madness (after The Joker murders a pregnant Lois Lane) leads to the brutal deaths of many beloved heroes, and if nothing else, we can safely assume the movie version will feature plenty of badass fight scenes.
That's a (very brief) recap of the game and prequel comic books; no story details have been revealed for the animated Injustice yet, so it's possible Warner Bros. Animation plans to put a unique spin on the story. There are plenty of great moments from the source material we'd love to see in the DCAU, however.
Hopefully, more details are going to be revealed soon, but in terms of the other special features bundled with Batman: The Long Halloween, Part Two, we're also getting a new animated short, DC Showcase – Blue Beetle.
What are you hoping to see in this version of Injustice?
