Matthew Vaughn Confirms Plans For HIT-GIRL Movie And Possibly KICK-ASS 3

Kingsman: The Secret Service director Matthew Vaughn has revealed that he is indeed plotting a Kick-Ass prequel which would focus on Hit-Girl, and if that manages to restore faith in the franchise, they'll move ahead with Kick-Ass 3. Hit the jump for his comments in full...

While fielding fan questions for Yahoo! Movies, Kingsman: The Secret Service helmer Matthew Vaughn confirmed that he's "not happily done with the [Kick-Ass] franchise," and that there are indeed plans for a Hit-Girl movie (which Mark Millar said earlier this year will be set in far East and directed by "someone like Gareth Evans"). "We’re working on an idea for a prequel of how Hit Girl and Big Daddy become Hit Girl and Big Daddy...If we make that, hopefully that will be the sorbet for the people that didn’t like ‘Kick-Ass 2’ and then we can go off and make ‘Kick-Ass 3’."

Kick-Ass 2 received a mixed response from critics and was far from a hit, and Vaughn admitted that they'll need to use the Hit-Girl movie to restore faith in the Kick-Ass franchise. "I think we’ve got to do this prequel to regain the love that we had with ‘Kick-Ass’." Watch the video below for more.

Matt Vaughn is one of my favorite action directors working today. This is a HUGE waste of his talents. I really hope this gets stuck in development hell and he moves on to other projects.

I can dig it if Nic Cage will be back to reprise his role of Big Daddy. You can't make Chloe younger so the movie would probably need recast (or some special super dooper computer effects) but you can cast again Cage and no one would probably even notice.

Not sure about Kick Ass 3 though. Second one left bad taste in my mouth. You don't cast Jim Carrey to give him like 3 scenes and show them all in the trailer.

No thanks. Kick Ass 2 was shit. [frick] a Hit-Girl solo. [frick] Kick-Ass 3. [frick] Vaughn for pitching this. [frick] Hollywood for listening to him in this. [frick] Millar for creating these characters. [frick] y'all for buying these Kick-Ass comics. [frick] me for having to list why this is a bad idea.

The 2 Hellboy films got better reviews and made more money than the 2 Kick-Ass films plus people actually want a Hellboy 3. Nobody [frick]ing wants a Ass-Kicked 3.

[frick] this. Doing Kick-Ass 3 is like doing Green Lantern 2. Nobody [frick]ing wants it or cares for it.

I guess what Kick Ass 2 really lacked was that sweet WTF moments like Kick Ass getting hit by the car or that one scene when he was defending this guy from punks and The Prodigy song was playing in the backround or that scene when Big Daddy yells "switch to Kryptonite" or that scene when Big Daddy kills those bastards in the warehouse ...

Anyone who thinks Kick Ass 2 was good are straight up delusional as shit. The film was a mess. I was so stoked for KA2. It was the film I was looking forward to the most. Then I saw the trailers and began to worry. Then I saw the film and shook my head in how badly they [frick]ed it up.

I love the Kick Ass series. The second one wasn't amazing but it was still entertaining
. The first one was some of the best time I had at the movies last decade. That scene where hit girl rescues kick ass and big daddy while everything happening was live was out of this world awesome

as i recall studio did not pay for part 1 and 2. They were getting sponsors or whatever you call it to get the movies done. Brad Pitt was a producer. Wonder how much he gave.

Plus, I don't think people realize that Big Daddy allowed Mindy to join his gruesome acts of vigilant justice when she was only but a VERY little girl. They might cast a 6-8 year old to be honest.

I liked both Kick Ass 1 and 2… I think a prequel would be weird with Chloe goring up and all… She's become quit the young looking beauty.
Last time I was with @KennyPowers he couldn't calm down after Kick Ass 2. His skinny jeans were messing with blood flow to his head;)
