ULTIMATUM Movie, Possibly Involving The X-MEN & FANTASTIC FOUR, Rumored To Be In The Works

We're going to need a plate of salt for this one, but a new rumor is claiming that Marvel is in early development on an Ultimatum movie which could potentially utilize characters from the X-Men and FF...

We still don't know how Marvel Studios intends to introduce characters from The X-Men and Fantastic Four to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but a new rumor claims that it could happen in an Ultimatum movie.

According to MCU Cosmic, the studio is developing an adaptation of Jeph Loeb's 2009 miniseries. The five-issue story saw Magneto losing control after the deaths of Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch, and The X-Men, Fantastic Four and others uniting in an attempt to stop him.

Ultimatum was heavily criticized for killing off a number of characters (and for being a bit crap), and would seem like an odd fit for Kevin Feige and co. to tackle. However, Marvel Studios have never directly adapted any one particular arc, so if this is indeed to be the basis for a future film, there will almost certainly be some major tweaks and alterations to the story.

How much stock should we put in this? Well, the source has been hit and miss, but it is worth noting that he did break the news that Marvel was working on an Eternals movie before it was officially announced, so this is definitely worth keeping an eye on - even if it does sound more than a little far fetched!

Do you think a big event movie is the right way to go about bringing the X-Men and FF into The MCU? Or should they debut in their own solo adventures first? Let us know what you think in the comments.

Also....the comics have been so void of stakes and emotion. Even ‘Avengers vs X-Men.’ It was just kind of....a thing that happened. Maybes couple good lines of morality. Like ‘Civil War’ (comic). At LEAST there’s the speech about finding and standing your ground. DC kills at a more fulfilling read. My opinion!

@tmp3 - Nope, sorry, that's just not accurate. I think Conrad is a major toolbag, but there's no arguing with the fact that he's had some pretty major scoops that have panned out over the years. He's been more hit and miss of late, but his stuff is still worth covering as a rumor.

Introduce the FF, X-Men, and maybe even Doom, separately and carefully, like they did Iron Man, Thor, and Captain America 10 years ago. The Marvel Method works. Keep going.

I think they all get their own seperate introductions, X-Men and Fantastic Four as movies and the rest (Excalibur, Alpha Flight, Weapon X) probably on Disney+. We know from Justice League that doing an event first is not a good template to follow, especially if it's based on an event that isn't even regarded as that great

ULTIMATUM is your least favorite story's least favorite story, so I'm concerned about anything associated with it, but Marvel managed to turn the character assassination poster child that was CIVIL WAR and translate it into a story that worked amazingly on a character and story level while introducing 2-3 big characters, so of course they get the benefit of the doubt

@OmegaDaGrodd - Ya, but it did that by ignoring the comic. When it comes down to it Civil War movie has almost nothing in common with the comic besides, superheroes fighting each other, which is almost as common as superheroes fighting bad guys.

Sees title and panics that Disney and Marvel are stupidly going to adapt one of the worse comic events of all time.

Sees the source is MCUCosmic:

Sighs in relief at the realization this is total bullshit.
