Will Smith On MEN IN BLACK 4: "I Think Three Is Enough For Me"

Will Smith talks about potentially reprising his role as Agent J in a fourth Men In Black film, saying that he'll definitely consider it but there's a strong possibility that someone else will take over. Could that someone be his son Jaden?

Earlier this month, Sony confirmed plans to develop a fourth Men In Black movie when the studio hired Oren Uziel to write the script. With the conclusion of the third film last summer, it would make sense to leave it at that. But with the right story, Men In Black 4 could be very good. Plus, with MIB3 becoming the highest grossing installment in the franchise, it would be ideal for Sony to move forward with the series. It was previously expected that Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones will return as Agents J and K, respectively, yet again. But in an interview with Collider at the After Earth press junket, Smith doesn't sound entirely certain if he will put on the black suit for a fourth go-around. "Uh, y'know... I think three is enough for me. Three of anything is enough for me. We'll look at it and we'll consider it, but it feels like that it might be time to let someone else do that." Collider then brought up the possibility of Smith's son Jaden (who co-stars with his father in After Earth) taking over for the fourth film, and Will sounds very open to the idea. Would you like to see Will and/or Jaden Smith in Men In Black 4? For Collider's full interview with Will Smith, click the source link below.

I don't know how I feel about this. MIB is one of my favorite movies ever, but the second was awful. The third was ok, but nothing special. If they make a fourth then please, no more Will Smith. Focus on two other agents to keep things fresh. Also, they need to get some better looking effects and aliens this time. They don't seem to use practical effects much, and for some reason the CGI in 2 & 3 look worse compared to the first.

Of course he's open to his son taking over, apparently he's stopped making good movies and instead is attempting to launch Jaden's career

With that organization, you could definitely develop new films following other characters if they have a good story to tell. As for Jaden, let the kid grow up a little more. I don't think MIB hires 14yos.

Yes, three of anything is enough, indeed. Thank you, Mr. Smith. And by that, I mean that the franchise should just end on the third movie; I don't want to see any more of it, even - or to be more precise, especially - with new actors whatsoever. You either die a trilogy, or live long enough to see yourself becoming like Die Hard.

Gd choice Mr.Smith - make another one and it's gone to far! Just leave it as a good trilogy! Don't reboot - JUST LEAVE IT ALONE! lol

Ripping K out of retirement after that great ending of MIB 1 was the worst retcon of cinema history.

His son stinks
He has none of the charisma Will had at one time in his life
Maybe he can develop into a good actor but he ain't there

Btw I loved MIB 3, second best after the second but more emotional weight.

Still I'm happy leaving it at that

Can we stop being force fed movies with Will Smith's no talent kids? If Jaden weren't Will's kid he'd be washing dishes for a living

Please God make them stop!!!
Will Smith what's happened to you??? Your batting average has dropped into the 200's!
I believe "Duncboy" hit it right on, he's trying to get his son off the ground and is sacrificing his acting career in the process.
He turned down the role of Dejango because it wasn't considered a lead role...pride is a killer.

Will get it together man, give us that awesome follow up to "I am legend!"

Will Smith is a very good actor...but he just needs to choose the right movies.

You passed on the Matrix, and then you pass on Django Unchained. C'mon Will! You're better than that!

I liked MIB3, I do feel like they should pass the torch to younger actors. The premise of MIB could be so much more than just thesw two people.

I swear to god if I see his untalented son in a MIB sequel I will burn my house down. It's ridiculous that he abuses his fame to get roles for that retarded kid.

Also why does he do crappy movies like After Earth or MIB3 instead of giving us Bad Boys 3?

He should return 10-15 years from now and basically play the part that Tommy Lee Jones had in the first film.

What Silentman said above, I feel the same

But they dont have to end the franchise, go back to the early 70s, focus on the young K, get Josh Brolin to do a trilogy with a movie set in each decade leading up to the point where he meets J in the 90s.

@grif and Ocelot

Yes, totally agree, I know they are mindless action movies but they are so fun to watch and it keeps Michael Bay away from destroying anymore 80s cartoons. Give us one final Bad Boys before Will and Martin Lawrence get too old for the roles. Do it Michael Bay, after Transformers 4!
