SuperHeroStuff Presents: The Maiden Voyage of a Comic Con Virgin

SuperHeroStuff is changing the pace with this article all about my first trip to a Comic Con. I will be keeping the dialogue brief and showing off some of my new Cosplay friends. If the haters don’t like this article then I guess a small Droid and Obi-Wan is my only hope.

I would not call myself a “Fanboy” but certainly a lover of comics and Sci-Fi; you know, cool sh*#. I started working in the world of pop culture at the end of March. My main job at SuperHeroStuff is to torture the CBM users with our product updates; seriously? No, not so much. The CBM posts are just one of the many fun tasks I do for SHS. Since we’ve never been formally introduced, my name is Blake and I do a great deal of the online marketing and Social Networking (follow @superherostuff on Facebook and Twitter *Shameless Plug*).

Now that we know each other, please continue with the verbal harassment; I do love it so. Here's something for you to refer to when you want to name call and are disgusted with my posts:

Yours truly and Clare Kramer, creator/owner of GeekNation and "Glory" from Buffy: The Vampire Slayer (other stuff, too). In case you need a pic without me in it:

SuperHeroStuff is a main exhibitor at Comic Cons nationwide on a fairly regular basis. We set up and tear down our booth at least a dozen times a year. Wizard World Comic Con in Philadelphia, PA ran from May 30th to June 2nd. Since we are based in Pennsylvania this was the perfect opportunity for the “newbie” to “work a show”

I am not going to bore you with the gruesome details of long hours, set up, tear down, etc… Instead, I will save that stuff for another article. Now, I will just show you some of my new Comic Con friends. Enjoy!

This is just a small sampling. I already know that the quality doesn't meet your high standards and some shots are blury to say the least. We have a couple hundred shots from our professional Cosplay photographer that joined our set up this year. I will save the name and the photos for another article.

@ fadersdream - careful, apparently you're allowed to post as many semi-naked women on here as you like but any written joke that borders on smut gets deleted.

No disrespect but i never understood why a merchandise company would ever need to make "articles". I mean... aren't ads "enough"? Not only do you mention in your article but even in your heading that users of this site are being "haters" towards you... I know full well that bad publicity is good publicity but even without these articles, you still have plenty of publicity on the site which doesn't even warrant people's opinions. Surely you don't need to piss people off to get publicity. I'm just saying, honey's better than vinegar.

Dude, if you're trying to prove something to the CBM users here, could you at least post more than two pics that are in focus?

Wow why all the hate the guy has a job to do and hell we are the target demographic, geeks and comic nerds who may or may not live in our parent's basement. Posting stuff in an add and actually having someone post actual stuff in an article is more appealing and personal. Hell if you don't like it don't click on it, just like commercials fast forward.

Shaman, it's just like any forum that's supported by a vendor. They don't want to just sit by and wait for someone to find them, they need to be proactive. For instance, I can't see any advertisements at all because I use FireFox with AdBlock Plus, so if it wasn't for these articles, I wouldn't have a clue.

Bartman87- "actually having someone post actual stuff in an article is more appealing and personal."

That's merely your opinion which clearly not many on here share. People come here to read comic book movie news and most of them hate having merchandising articles take a fraction of their newspage away, especially since RIGHT NEXT TO THE ARTICLES are ADDS from the very same people. Taking article space is overkill which is why all the hate. It's not a matter of clicking on the articles themselves.

Stumblin- My bad, i had no idea. Since i can see these adds at work, i figured they were specifically intergrated into the site by Jim himself and not via an add code, etc.

It's all good, many don't realize we have the power :)

But yeah, I don't see SHS abusing the editorials with gibberish, usually it's to promote a new product which I think is totally understandable. If it was my company, I'd do it too.

Poison Ivy ftw!

@RonVitiate: Actually the boobage was recently toned down too just fyi.

@Bman: Yeah he actually looks pretty decent.

@Shaman: I hear ya, I was ranting a couple of weeks ago about an article on the Pixar movie "Brave" and why it was on here, but I calmed down and realized that somebody has to pay for the site so we just have to live with some advertising and promotional stuff to be able to enjoy the good stuff. :)

Nice article. I haven't been to a Comic-Con yet. I'm planning to go to SDCC someday.

And I'm very positive that the Poison Ivy cosplayer was featured on this site before.

Definitely one of the better ones I've seen.
