BOX OFFICE: DRACULA UNTOLD Opens Strong But Batfleck's GONE GIRL May Win Weekend

Dracula Untold sunk its fangs into a solid start at late Thursday showings, but Gone Girl - starring Batman v Superman's Ben Affleck - will likely win the weekend.

Dracula Untold earned $1.3 million at Thursday night screenings, but early predictions have Gone Girl pegged as taking the top spot for a second straight weekend. That's rare for an R-Rated drama, but the positive buzz and strong late week grosses should see it accomplish that feat (something which hasn't been done since 2010's Shutter Island). It's going to be a close call as the horror movie is tracking to earn an amount in the high teens, early twenties. David Fincher's latest effort meanwhile is taking aim for the mid twenties. We'll obviously bring you some more detailed figures as they come through tomorrow. The Judge - Robert Downey Jr.'s latest movie which he has produced alongside his wife, producer Susan Downey - may get lost in the shuffle as Deadline believes it will finish in fifth place. The response to what initially appeared to be a legitimate Oscar contender has not been great, so Robert Downey Jr. may want to rethink his position in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as his name perhaps isn't as big a draw without Iron Man attached to it...

'Chef' was a critical and financial success, so it's not like every non-Marvel project RDJ does will be a guaranteed flop....

Since Iron Man Downey has been a Oscar nominated actor and has released 2 movies that grossed more than 500 millions. But yeah, he should consider only doing IM movies.

I think he's one of most charismatic and talented actors today, guess they could have got Ryan Reynolds for the role of Stark haha...really though, it's just one of those things that 'magically' aligned, for him, Favreau, Marvel (MCU), etc...just happens sometimes...thank god it did!

Any Affleck doubters need to see this movie which proves again, the guy is a legit A List talent and is light years away from Daredevil with his acting. BTW, Affleck is a frigging beast in this movie and built like a tank.Seriously, check out the guns and chest on the guy while wearing a t-shirt in this film. He's gonna make people forget about Bale when it comes to being able to fill out a bat suit.

Saw Dracula today and I gotta say it wasn't bad. Honestly go in there without any expectations of deep Dracula lore and expect to see a simple sci-fi movie and you won't walk out disappointed. The story is basic enough that a toddler could follow whats going on, and while it does lack the necessary 'blood show' for a movie like this, if you just wanna see him kick the crap outta hordes of people you're all good.

"So is Dracula Untold suppose to be apart of the Universal Monsters Cinematic Universe"

I've seen this a lot lately, but have people just decided that "apart" and "a part" don't kinda mean the opposite thing now?
