IT Director Andy Muschietti In The Mix To Helm New DRACULA Prequel Film For Paramount Pictures
Paramount Pictures is reportedly planning a new Dracula prequel film, and IT director Andy Muschietti is said to be on the studio's radar to bring this new take on the iconic vampire to the big screen....
Pretty much every major studio will be clawing after Andy Muschietti after IT hits theaters (if they're not already), and Paramount Pictures is no different.
According to Deadline, the studio has acquired screen rights to Dracul, which is being developed as a potential directing vehicle down the line for Muschietti. The film is being touted as a Dracula origin story, but unlike 2014's toothless Dracula Untold, Dracul will actually depict the events that led Bram Stoker to write the classic novel in the first place.
Here's a plot description:
"The tale is set in 1868, where a 21-year old Bram Stoker meets with an ungodly evil that he traps in an ancient tower all the while scribbling the events that led him there."
The script was written by Dacre Stoker (great-grand nephew to Bram) and J.D. Barker. Paramount's Vanessa Joyce will oversee development with Miri Yoon of Vertigo Entertainment.
