Paul Dini Making A Return To BATMAN Comics

Anyone who is a fan of The Dark Knight knows that Paul Dini is the man behind Batman: The Animated Series, both Batman: Arkam games, and plenty of other key Batman stories. SFX caught up with Dini where he said he will make a triumphant return to Batman in the form of a graphic novel that is very unique and personal to him.

About Writing Batman Again:
“Yeah, I have a big Batman story in me, it’s a very personal one and I’ve just got permission from DC to do it, We’re just finalizing the deal right now for me to write it as a graphic novel and I’ve very excited about it,”

Projected Release And Story Details:
“I’ve already started work on it and it’ll probably be a year or two down the road but this is something that I’ve had inside me for a long time, it’s going to be a change of pace for Batman and it’ll take some of the fans by surprise when they ultimately see what the story’s about.”

What the story will be like:
“I think it’s going to a really terrific story, I’ve gotten nothing but great response from the folks at DC on it. I really can’t say much more until we announce it formally but I’m really looking forward to this and jumping in and devoting my entire energy to nothing but writing this Batman story.”

Did he think Harley Quinn would be this influential when creating her?:
“No not really, I just wanted to do a good job!, more than that I wanted to challenge myself to come up with stories that I thought were really cool and engaging. It’s fun to create a character like Harley Quinn and have her grow on to be a character that a lot of people identify with. Nobody really plans on that, it’s just something that happens when you’re really enjoying the work.”

With Paul Dini being an amazing Batman story writer every, comic fan should ask...why isn't he in charge of the movies?

do a Zatanna mini-series set in the new 52. Dini was the man when it came to Zatanna. One of the best series of the old DC

Damnit Dini, if it's going to be epic then save it for the next Arkham game.

Joking asid, it is interesting to hear that he will be solely focusing on this Batman project, isn't he sheaperding the Ultimate Spider-Man series?

i found a diary my mum wrote for me when i was 4 or 5 and apparently i went on and on and on about batman, but i can never remember watching an episode of the animated series and did see the burton films until much more recently.

i had 2 batman toys from the animated series i can remeber tho. dont know whether to go back and watch all the episode and see if it triggers any regressed memories. lol

If DC knows whats good for them.. They will get this man to work on the DC movie universe as soon as possible... Not everything has to be with Nolan's permission.. He gave us all theses great dc animated movies and Three of the greatest animated series of all time.. Batman:TAS, Superman: TAS, and both Justice League series... Let him direct Justice League and let Andrea Romano handle casting!!

will definitely be picking up the book when it is out. Dini is awesome and his work on Batman is unparalleled.

He knows the character and the stories are always real batman stories. I can't help but what he would do or could do if he asked to write a movie storyline for the character. Tho, I'd settle for some tid bits on the next arkham series game

Timm and Dini are dc/wb's only answer to Whedon and feige.
I'm a DC guy all the way but Marvel Studios has it figured out. I love the nolan films, but they only work for bats. Really really hope MOS will be the big turn around for them.

Also I think Timm and Dini have the balls to bring villains like clayface and killer croc to the screen.

Awesome sauce. Dini is waaaaayyyyy better on Batman than Morrison. He writes real detective stuff instead of trying to go all metaphysical every issue. I mean, Morrison is a good writer, but he's just not as good as he's made out to be. Personally, I find his concepts to be fairly obvious (For instance RIP. The bad guy was obviously Jezebel). Also he tends to make Bruce rather invincible. I like a weaker, non-omniscient (doesn't plan for everything) Bats. It makes him more human, which is sort of the point of Batman since he has no powers.

agreed with other users: put Dini & Timm in charge of your movies and just get out of the way, DC/Warner Bros! These people understand the characters, and how to make them do work!!
