Gina Carano Signs Up For Lead Role In All-Female Riff On THE EXPENDABLES

The MMA fighter turned actress (who just so happens to be a fan favourite choice for the role of 'Wonder Woman') has reportedly joined the cast of 1984 Private Defense Contractors' planned "all-female riff" on The Expendables. Read on for details!

Following an impressive turn in Haywire earlier this year, Gina Carano joined the cast of The Fast and the Furious 6, further establishing herself as a big screen action star. Well, according to Variety, she looks set to now take on her biggest role yet; the lead in the planned "all-female riff" on The Expendables. Producer Adi Shankar (of 1984 Private Defense Contractors) had this to say about casting the actress. "I don't know how I'm supposed to make a movie that is supposed to be the female version of 'The Expendables' without Gina Carano in it. It would be like making Twix without caramel or Jamba Juice without jamba." He recently co-produced DREDD, Killing Them Softly and viral online hit, The Punisher: Dirty Laundry. Dutch Southern is writing the film.

She is an actress in the strictest definition of the word, as in she's gotten paid to play a character in a movie. The same definition can be claimed by an extra.

She's looks nothing like the character.

She's too short.

So her qualifications are what, she's an MMA fighter? If that's the case, they could still do better.

Makes me think people don't really get, or really care to understand, Wonder Woman.

Who are these supposed fans that make her a favourite for Wonder Woman? If there's a role she isn't suited for, it's Wonder Woman. She could certainly play an Amazon but Wonder Woman herself? No. Wonder Woman requires some very specific abilities from the actress who plays her.

Carano looks like she can play a tough, athletic Wonder Woman. The athletic part is fine but the tough part is a problem. Wonder Woman should never look tough by default. She needs to be tough without looking tough. Wonder Woman needs to convey curiosity and compassion above all else. She shouldn't look like an MMA fighter who was born to fight. Wonder Woman was given life to bring peace to the world, not war. She fights when she has to and will fight for what she believes in but that's not her default position and for that reason Carano simply isn't suited to the role.

She is lovely. I liked Haywire, but I just could not get used to all the scenes of men heinously attacking and beating her up.

I know she's a tough lady and an excellent hand to hand combatant but there was scene after scene of these guys brutalizing her. That was hard to watch.

Gina Carano was really good in Haywire.
She will get better as she acts more & become a solid action movie actress.

What is needed is NOT a climatic fight scene between two women at the end of this film but a sex scene between two women that results in a climax.
Ok..I got a bit carried away there but a guy can dream.
