Can't get enough "Angry Birds"? You might be getting a lot more than you bargained for if the game's developers go through with their plans.
According to Digital Spy, Rovio CEO Mikael Hed has announced that his company is in the process of kicking off a television series, and possibly even a movie, based on the popular iPhone puzzle game.
Hed told C21media, "We have been looking at [a show] for quite a while, and that is definitely one of my personal big focus areas right now, to work on broadcast content for Angry Birds."
It may seem like a strange move to make for a game developer, but Hed explained in August that Rovio is all about branding and equity, and since the game has sold upwards of 6.5 million copies as of August, they feel they've struck gold.
"When you create brand equity," he explained, "to do that again would be a difficult task rather than nurture and build around what you have."
Hed continued, "It was a completely new area for us. We had to get our bearings there and a sense of how the whole market was. That was the first part of the exercise, and now that we've done that, the next part is to move into production, and that's where we are right now."
